We have had our bearded dragon for 2.5 yrs. He is about 4.5 yrs now. We bought him from a pet store. Over time we had read you could use regular household bulbs and changed them out. I just realized two weekends ago that he was not doing well and thought he would die. He was being taken care of by our child who had him in a spare room. No blame here, there is enough to go around. He started to develop mouth rot and nutrition issues, not to mention lack of the correct lighting.

His spine has some MBD.We took him to the vet and have already made the changes to get him on the right path again and he is looking better everyday. He got a calcium shot as well as a A,D & E shot. We are hand feeding him veggies and he takes the crickets from our tongs. He is getting stronger. Can you tell me what else we can do to help our litle guy? He has been getting some sunlight outdoors daily. Baths and so much loving. What would be some other things we can do as far as diet to make sure he puts weight back on? We are hopeful his spine will correct itself and the vet said we have to wait it out. We are taking calcium and multivitamin powder and mixing it with water and feeding that to him as well. The vet said to do this daily and we will check with her again in 3 weeks. We also sprinkle his food. We are doing the things we were doing in the first place but I am afraid to check websites since that is where I read about the household bulbs. I don't want to feed him anything that will harm him. Any advice would be appreciated.

if you want to put weight on ask the vet for some critical care or you can get it from a pet store also super worms are really good and fatty for beardies and they love them alot , i also give max meal worms they are suppose to be bad but he has not faced problems i have heard pinkies are good for wieght issues however i gave some to max and he got really sick so i quit giving them to him so i dont suggest that

the household bulbs are recommended for basking bulbs, you still need a UVB source, so 2 bulbs in total. Have you not been using a UVB at all then?

you want to get the reptiSUN 10 TUBE, or if in Europe, the Arcadia 12% UVB, and they need to be 6-8" from the beardy. Household bulbs are fine to create heat, but nothing else.

If afraid if it is MBD and his spine is already crooked it will always be like that, but you can make him healthy again!

Please do not feed pinkies EVER they pose a serious impaction risk to even the healthiest dragon. Supers are good as are roaches to put weight on. If he is not eating tr giving some chicken babyfood. If the vet has diagnosed MBD you really need liquid calcium, and im surprised he has not given it here. Its much stronger that just normal calcium in water. Please PM Tracie (Drache) as she sell some and is the person who know the most about MBD and other ailments.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
