Roaches...

I found these.
They are very cheap. It works out to about 2cents a roach.

However I don't know about their nutritional value. Could someone point me in the right direction? Google isn't turning anything up.
And has anyone ordered from them? How's their service? I haven't seen any mention of them here except once.

I guess the reds are out, because they are too fast. Smurf has enough trouble with crickets. :roll:
Is there a place where I can get cheap dubias?
I'm not looking to start a colony, it took enough effort getting my parents agree to let any roaches into the house at all.

Honestly i have never even heard of these kind of roaches until i went to the link you provided. I will try to do some research to help you out, because if it turns out they are good feeders,those are some darn cheep dinners (mcdonalds dollar meals anyone? :mrgreen: )

Ok here are the facts I've learned.

* They are thin shelled
* get to about an inch or so at adulthood
* can't climb, are fast runners, and secrete a sticky substance when handled?( not much info about that just what people said)
* they take awhile to reach adult hood, and they don't give live birth.
* they are fast breeders, however it takes about 5-6 months to reach adulthood (probably when you'd feed them) and they live another year or so after that

(on another website I saw them selling 100 + shipping for $50...)....... :shock: (now i found 100 for 9.99$ lol)

Well thats really all the info I can find, they are cheap prices but in the long run I think it would be better to stick to B. Dubia colonies just because of the hassle of fast running roaches would be. Also they look absolutely horrible lol, i can stand dubias but these things look like they are evil disease carriers lol.

I have these B. lateralis roaches, but my dragons won't eat them. I think because there to fast. They make a great alternative to crickets though for my tarantulas and other inverts. I have read where others on this board say there dragons eat them. You could search to see. So for my dragons, its B. dubia and B. discoidalis. I'm not sure about the B. lateralis nutrional value, but other roaches have twice the protein as crickets. I've been cricket free now for a few months, oh what a feeling!

I have ordered from them before and there customer service was horrible. All the roaches was cramped in tiny boxes and suffocated before they arrived. 3 weeks later and I finally got a refund from them.

If you pop reds in the freezer for a min or two it slows them down quite a bit and makes it easier for slow or lazy beardies to catch them.

I have these guys. I started out with 2000 nymphs from the Bugpros (didn't have any problems) and in 5 months I was overrun with roaches. Unfortunately right when I had a sustainable population my beardie went into brumation and stopped eating for about 4 months. Now my beardie is out of his eating me out of house and home stage (he's a year old) and prefers Supers anyways so I am looking for ways to dispose of these guys as I am overrun with them. I hate insects but these roaches really didn't bother me lookswise. My beardie eats them but they have a habit of hiding out in his cage before he can eat them so that's why I don't use them much at all anymore.
