roaches escaping

I've done a LOT of experimenting with my roaches since getting them a few weeks ago and have noted the following....

- If placed in a QUALITY rubbermaid tub with super slick sides, NONE of the dubia can crawl up the walls. Not even the newborn nymphs.

- If its a cheaply made tub, i've seen the newborns and extra small nymphs scale the sides.

So my suggestion is simple. Start with a quality Rubbermaid tub. I was lucky and found the new line of Rubbermaid "CleverStore" tubs at walmart. I picked up TWO 36 gallons. One for my breeding tub, and one for my feeders. They are the perfect size, depth, VERY slick inside and have none of the funky ledges / contours inside of them for roaches to climb on like the "RoughNeck" series. Here is a link showing them. Smaller ones can be had too. I just liked the 36 gallon for the extra depth. It holds 8 egg crates across perfectly and you can go with 16 if you want to fill the entire thing. I use 8 across, then one laying down with the food on top of that one.
