hey guys i have a baby bearded dragon. he is about 7-8 inches long, and he only eats about 3-6 crickets.
well today he havent ate at all, all he has done today is get on his basking area and sleep...
i know he been eating a little but im hopping is because of him being stressed...iv only had him for 4 days.
the first 2 days he ate about 10 crickets a day and they just kept reducing etc,
i have a 30" Long 12" tall and 12" wide. for now,
150 watt heat lamp, and his uav bolb, and i have a night heat lamp.
im scared, im up to like 4in the morning trying to learn more and more. i tried to give him baby food (squash) yesterday and he ate little as you can see on his face lol
He had gotten 2 baths in those 4 days I've had him.
i dust the few crickets he eats with calcium d3 powder, i also have his water bowl and a bowl with vegies just in case.
what he is doing is normal or there is something wrong with him...?
i see videos and i see other peoples bearded dragons and they go crazy on crickets...mine wont

He's so tiny and cute! :love5:
What type of UVB do you use? There are a ton out there, but the only ones safe for bearded dragons are a ReptiSun 10.0 tube or an Arcadia 12% tube. Do you have a digital thermometer or a temperature gun to measure the temps? Dials and stick-on thermometers can be off by as much as 20*
As long as his temperatures and UVB source and setup are correct, the reason for him not eating much could definitely be relocation stress. Babies are especially susceptible to relocation stress, and it can take them 2 to 4 weeks to settle into their new home. :) (Even my big guy didn't eat much when I brought him home, and he's 4 years old! :))

Aww, what a little cutie. He looks healthy and alert, if a little bit thin, which is a good sign. As well as what the poster above said, you should take out the night heat lamp if it gives off any light at all (ie if it isn't a ceramic heat emitter), cos they need the dark to sleep. He only needs extra heat at night if it gets very cold (below about 65) in his viv overnight.

Is he pooping okay? Do you have sand or walnut or any other loose substrate in the viv? If he's not pooping and has loose substrate, he could have eaten some by accident and be impacted.

Hopefully he's just stressed at his new home and will calm down and eat properly soon.

Im using the Zilla-Desert-50-UVB-Fluorescent-20-Watt-Coil-Bulb.
I'll probably get the tube this weekend as long with a digital thermometer, if I have money
But why is he like super lazy ? He haven't really moved from his basking spot
But if I pull him down he will climb back up there with out a problem

I hope it is relocation stress

Ok I'll be taking out the heat lamp at night, he's in my room so it shouldn't be cold at all
And I'm using rapticarpet, did my homework lol.
And his poo looks fine, he actually pooped when I was giving him a bath
But yeah the poo is a bit smaller than when I frist got him But looks normal to me

How long I'd it take for y'all baby beardie's to calm down? Or what can I try to make him feel comfortable?

The coil bulbs cause problems in beardies. If you look it up on the site they can tell you more about why they aren't good than I can. But i can tell you when i switched from a coil to a linear uvb bulb o noticed a BIG difference in appetite and energy. The Arcadia 12% is what everybody on here seems to recommend. I just ordered mine. But I have been using a reptisun 10.0 linear bulb and my guy seems to be doing amazing! You may also want to take a fecal sample to the vet to check for parasites. Better safe than sorry right? :). I hope he starts to eat more!

He might need a little while longer to warm up but it's crucial you get a proper UVB light and a digital thermometer (you can get one at Wal-Mart or on Amazon for about $12) as soon as possible. It's possible that the temps are not warm enough in his tank so he doesn't have the necessary heat to function and be active. Keep us posted.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
