Returning a Bearded Dragon

I know this sounds bad but I bought a beardie in late August at Petsmart and no longer want him. He and i have not grown any closer. I have tried everything in my power to get him to like me but he just does not want any of it. He is not aggressive, but rather scared or defensive. If i put my hand in the tank, he just hides or gapes and hisses. My last beardie, Boise, was completely chill and we would go everywhere together, with her on my shoulder. I cannot even take this one out of its cage. I want to purchase a new beardie but first, i have to find a new home for this one, even if it means returning to petsmart. He eats 100 Phoenix Worms a day, and is about 9 inches. I feel that spending 38$ every other week on food for a bearded dragon that i cannot interact with is not fun. This is my reasoning and i hope you understand. I dont want to be criticized for my decision. All i am asking is if there is anyway i can return my beardie, preferably a trade in, for a new one. thanks

I work at a PetSmart in that particular department and pet returns are only up to 14 days and we don't receive animals for adoption. It's against store policy, unfortunately. Sometimes however, an employee might take one home but you didn't hear that from me! If you live in Miami, you might be able to find a home for it. Best of luck!

If you haven't checked yet, there's a couple of forums on the site for selling or giving away beardies. I'd make a post there before you try to return it to any store. Anyone on this site is going to be more than qualified to give him the care he needs. Make sure you post your location, I'm sure there's someone out there who would love to give your guy a new home!
