There are so many point of views. And I know what view the beardie would take.

It's good that you are doing something about it, and it's good that everyone is speaking up for every side of the issue.
One thing that I will agree with is not to send money.
It would he rewarding them for bad behaviour.

By chance, do they name the celebrities? (on my phone so I haven't checked their website)
I would send a message to the celebrities... People with money can deal a lot of damage.

ok, so i was able to finally look at their website.

no celebrity names.

IF your brother can go there and sneak some pictures of the awful care and sickly looking animals then you can post up the pictures on facebook.
there is a lot of power with facebook (for example, an animal shelter in Sayerville, NJ was closing down because of all the damage from hurricane sandy, people were sharing a picture about it how all the animals were free and any that couldn't be adopted would be euthanized. i just saw that this morning, about an hour ago one of my friends posted that all the animals were adopted).

if you can get pictures and share them with all the info, more people can join in on the cause, especially local people.
i am friends with a lot of people involved with animal rescues and shelters who would pass the pictures around (and maybe call them, lol).

You did steal him. And you also rescued him. You did what needed to be done. Stealing isn't necessarily theft, just as killing isn't necessarily murder. It all depends on context, circumstance, and intent.

Hi, okay I just seen this thread and read it...I went thru a very similar situation a little while back, except Im in alabama and it seems like ur shop is in Georgia, lol. At 1st, b4 u said the name I was kinda wondering if it was the same place... Well, its pretty much ur story, except throw in that they had 2 adult beardies that were completely twisted with MBD I posted a thread on here about it at the time... Anywho, I didnt "steal" one to save it (which I dont necessary agree with, but def better than him having to die a slow death there) And honestly the thought didnt cross my mind to just take one, but I did leave and contact the Humane society, the aspca (is that what its called, lol) , a local rescue group, the game board, etc..etc.. I spent a couple of weeks calling and emailing everyone I could to try to get something done. Basically what I got was "tell other ppl not to shop there so maybe they will go outta business" and it was all VERY frustrating to say the least. I found that MANY other local ppl have alrdy reported them, tho NOTHING has or is being done about it. I can tell u that LAW WISE it will fall under the local police jurisdiction (tho they only seem to care if dogs/cats are being abused here) So u should def, along with ur friend and his gf, go file a police report at the local police station there, an officer will have to investigate but whether he/she does anything about it IDK. Also, contacting the news is a GREAT idea! whether newspapers or the broadcast news...here the fox station does a fox6 on ur side segment, so if u could get them to run a story on the shop that would hlp get the word out to ppl that they abuse animals and need to be shut down (but then again, think even tho thats bad publicity, LOTS of ppl may run there to buy the animals to "save" then, which in turn will actually be giving the store more funds to buy more animals to abuse, so it can def backfire) But combined, if u contact the police, then let a news station know, where its mentioned the police arent taking action, something MAY be done. I couldnt get anything done here I like u, also live a couple of hrs from the pet shop I was trying to report, and its hard to do something when u arent a local here. BUT u have a friend and his gf that are locals, so I RLLY hope something can be done about it. If/when u go back up there, try to get some pics/ video of whats going on, put ur cell phone on video record and walk around like ur talking on it...show the footage to the police and news, upload it on youtube...get the word out... I RLLY hope u all the best, and bravo for being willing to step up for animals that have no voice

Also, I wouldnt send them the $, and I def wouldnt mention that youd "saved" a beardie from there It was stealing, but U were right to save a life.

Rescued and Right!!! Fair play, I applaud you! I think more people should do this! Not that I condone shop lifting in normal circumstances, but in this case the disgusting treatment of these animals is a crime that far out weighs your minor theft! And you were doing it to rescue a poorly treated beardie, rather than out of greed. Good story I like it

I don't live in USA so I don't know, but is there some animal inspection you can report them too? They ought to be sued and have all their animals taken away from them and put into sanctuaries!

Well this is quite the thread. :study: I read through it all and it seems to come down to the "Age old" question. "If a man steals a loaf of bread to feed his family, is it wrong?" My question is, "Is stealing wrong?" I'm not saying lawfull, just right or wrong. For instance, Pet stores/all stores, mark up prices a disgusting amount. Yes, you need a profit margin to "Feed your own family" but where is the line? I've seen $3 items sold for $20 or more. I call that greed. Not buisness. When we pay $20 for a $3 item, is the excess cash being "stolen" from us? I say yes. It's just done in a lawfull manner. Law and ethics are two very different things. In the eyes of the law it's wrong and you could have lost everything, including your BD babe. Ethically, I have no issue with what you've done. Stores in Canada would rather have an animal die then discount it as many get credits for the animals that die! :shock: I don't know how it works where you are, and I can honestly say I stay on the lawfull path but I don't blame you. And at the risk of upsetting many people here, I'd like to add that it's not up to you to save anything or anyone. Report the store if you choose (I have actually done that myself) but don't feel like you HAVE to. Ethically you did the right thing already. Lawfully, is up to you and your conscience. Just my opinion. Not looking to offend anyone :wink:

JUST KIDDING! Here in Texas we would of taken the whole lot and punched the owner in the face on the way out. JUST KIDDING AGAIN!!! har, I can tell your not a thief because you posted it on a public forum. True died in the wool thief's just don't do that. Blow it off and don't do it again. Remember one thing, you can't save the world by yourself. Make some phone calls and report them. I don't' even look anymore when I find myself in a pet store. I go straight to get what I need and get out. Seen too much and I hate it. Take good care of that little kidnapped Dragon and move on along with life!!!

I believe u did nothing wrong. You rescued that poor baby and the only thing wrong with your story is the pet store and how they treated their animals. I really hope someone does something about them soon so those poor animals have a chance somewhere else

So The Guy Called me, and seemed Very Interested in Wanting to Help. I told them how PETA & ASPCA Didn't seem to want to do anything about it and He said he would make some Call's that he has a Few Connections Haha And that they've had Problem's with those Two Group's before Dealing with Reptile's and Exotics, but He's go to Make Call's and Find someone Who's Near The Pet Shop's Area or find someone who know's someone who Near the Area. Lol. And Get them to Check out the Shop and Such. And he will give me a Call Back when he Hear's from someone else about it. And We'll work on getting a better game plan together about getting the Animal's out of there. More was said, but that's the important stuff.

Now I'm also Working on PetSupliesPlus in my City. "Anyone Heard of them?" It's a Pet Shop trying to get big like Petsmart & Petco. They have Shop's up in a lot of State's and Cities. But the Employee's at My Local Shop run around acting like Teen's and they're atleast my Age or Older, Some reptile's were in Somewhat Bad Condition and Some could get Worse if their Set-Up's or Food wasn't fixed, and they had a Zoomed Powersun 100W MVB Priced at $99.99!!! Which is F#@Kin* Outrageous and also the Reptile Price's were just as Outrageous. So I Emailed them from their Website and Explained everything to them, and from what I've seen they really try to fix the Problem's they have Because they do want to get big and have a Good Rep, so i'm Hoping the will Straighten thing's up at the Carrollton,GA PSP.

Also I just Measured my Lil Buddy last night and he's Freaking 12 Inches Long and only 2 Month's & 1 Day Old!!! Is he not big or what? xD Plus his Tail is SUPER Long. Haha
