Hi all. I have a few questions. I'm not a beardie owner yet, but I plan to be in the near future. I had initially planned on getting a baby/juvenile from a rep show in 2 months, but my fiancees bestfriend has a rescue that I'm considering.
Here's her story(to the best of my knowledge), with my questions following. I don't have all the details or facts yet because I wasn't sure our friend was going to be looking for a new home for her until today. So as I get more info, ill add to this post.
Before my friend rescued her, she was housed with a male beardie. Every time she tried to eat, the male chased her away. Apparently this went on for some time. Long enough, that when my friend rescued, she was so emaciated that her spine, shoulders and hips were protruding and she was lethargic. She had no drive to eat on her own. The male is no longer housed with her (he's 100% healthy, BTW)
She had to be fed by syringe. I'm not sure what concoction he used, but it seems to be working. When I first saw her it was less than a week after her rescue, and two weeks later I saw her again and she had put on some weight. I believe she's eating on her own now. I'm not sure if he's supplementing with the syringe concoction still.
My main question is, could there be long term health affects from being so malnourished?
(my lunch break at work is over so I need to cut this short. But any advice, or anything would be awesome.)
Thanks in advance!
