Rescue beardie weight gain?

I just got an update on a rescue that I'll be getting when he is healthy and wanted to know if this sounded like good progress to anyone else. Just to clarify, he was seen by a vet the day he was rescued and has been treated for aliments per the vets instructions.

When they got him he was severely malnourished with a fungal infection and covered in open sores. He was de-wormed twice about two weeks ago after they got the fungus under control and the sores healed. Since then he has slowly started eating. They also said that he started drinking some during his baths as well last week.

His skin looks much better and all of his sores are healed up but he has only gained about 6-7g since being rescued about a month ago. Is that pretty normal for a recovering beardie? Should he be making more progress weight-wise?

I want to be excited about his progress but I also want to stay realistic about his chances of survival. He's been though so much and he deserves his own home to be loved and cared for. I already have his place set up here complete with loads of snuggles to give lol. Just waiting on him to pull through.

That progress report is very encouraging. The sores healing and the fungus being under control is a huge step. The weight gain will happen in time. It's a good sign that there is a positive trend. I'd even be happy with maintaining weight at the moment. Sick dragons tend to lose their appetites so once he starts feeling better, he's more likely to want to eat and put some weight back on. It sounds like he's getting excellent care and has a great home to look forward to.

Thank goodness! He'll be my first beardie so I'm kind of shooting in the dark with deciphering what the updates mean when I get them. Thanks for your input!

Hi there....it's always nice when an abused/neglected animal gets a good home. One thing you might want to do is, if you have not seen the dragon, ask for pictures , both before and after. Did they say what type of fungus it was ? Yellow fungus [ if that's what it is ] is a dreadful disease and at times it may get under control but then come back. Just be sure what you're up against, what type of fungus he has and whether or not he's free of it. Hopefully all goes well.

I have before and current pictures of him. I have thought about posting them a few times but figured that everyone would rather see the before pictures when I could supply them with a happier updated picture as well. His fungus is clear but right now he still looks boney and sad.

He was tested for yellow fungus and that's not what it was thank goodness!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
