Reptiworms smell...

I made my 1000 Reptiworms order on Monday, of course the USPS is terrible as always and didn't deliver when they "guaranteed" on Friday... I got them on Saturday luckily they were alive and moving! However they put off an ammonia smell... I did air them out but they were moving so much they kept crawling out. My question is, is this smell normal? (my calciworms didn't smell..) I don't want to harm my baby girl.

Should I put them in a different substrate?

Mine occasionally have that ammonia smell too. I usually just air them out and put them in a container that gets good ventilation. Right now they are in the container one of my other lizards came in (same substrate as they shipped in). I have never had any issues with feeding them to my dragon.

Thanks for the response! Glad to hear I've been trying the growing them in baby food technique

Let me know how that works. I have also fed the flies to my dragon. He loves them!
