Reptisun question and heat question :)

Of course good ole petsmart talked me into how good the zilla slimline was for UVB! Luckily I found this site and returned it!! Ordered a reptisun 10 ( petmountian had on sale!!! :lol: ) but need a fixture now I remember seeing them at walmart and went to 2 yesterday and they didn't even have the spot for them now!!! They did have a aqua hood but that was way huge and 30$ is it ok to use the under counter type? I would guess to remove the plastic bulb cover?? And can I just set in. On top of the screen or do I need to mount it? The tank is a 30 gal only 12 in but. But could get 4 to 8 in from it! How often should I replace it? AND the heat question: I'm on warm so cal and it is about 70 at night in my house but my lil dragon loves loves loves his heat light I know he doesn't actually need it most nights but when I do t turn it on he wontsleep and Mad all day will sleep during the day and not eat. So what do I do? The light is only 50 wt blue "moon light" actually looks like a mellow black light! Thanks everyone!!!!!

You can go pick up a cheap florescent desk fixture from Lowe's or Home Depot and it will get the job done.

While you're there, pick up a WHITE halogen spot light bulb and replace the colored one. Don't leave the heat light on at night. It disrupts sleeping patterns, which does not allow proper thermo-regulation, which does not allow proper digestion. 70 degrees is fine for nights.

i use a ceramic heat emitter 24 hours for heat and her uvb light 12 during the day at on end of my beardy's tank. we have her in a 29 long enclosure so she can choose where she wants to sleep in what temp. if shes not eating because of a light id say return the light buy a ceramic heat bulb because it gives off no light but enough heat and only use day uvb lights for her daily cycle. best of both worlds and get her back on a sleep schedule! :wink:

A day time basking lamp is very important for proper digestion as well.

I bought the fixture for the bulb when I bought my reptisun 10.0 from Pet Mountain. They sell them to fit the bulbs.

well she usually eats when we get out of work at night so she would need the heat form the CHE to digest .. the other end of the tank is cool enough for her when shes ready to sleep though. its a huge tank plenty of stretch for temp variants.

I would suggest changing the times you have the lights on then. She really does need the light for digestion, not just heat.
