Sorry to hijack your thread - but I have a question too.
:?: Can I use this bulb or do I need to get one with a ballast (info below)? My light dome has 2 reptiglo 10's currently and I've been advised to change to the ReptiSun. If these are okay then I don't have to buy a new light hood. If they're not, then I'll return the light hood and get a new one.

I agree about the Repti-Sun fluorescent. There have been TOO many health issues associated with the compacts. Please watch for any eye symptoms, especially closing of the eyes and if you notice that, please turn the bulbs off right away. Other things to watch for are lethargy, avoiding the light, different behavior, etc.

is the repti-glo line by exo terra just as good?

Everyone is saying not to use the repti glo - that it causes eye problems. I looked at PetSmart today to get the reptisun tube - but they don't carry it (they did have the reptisun 10.0 compact tho). So, I'll find a place online to order it.

ok Thanks everyone. I think I only have one question remaining. My bearded dragon is currently in a 20 gallon long because he/she is only 10 inches. When he gets bigger I will move himto a 40 gallon breeder. So what I am asking is what size fixture and bulb should I get?
