Reptile shop

I found a local reptile shop 10 minutes from my house!!!! Hubby and I went this morning and were like kids in a candy store or GameStop-lol. The owner was wonderful, full of information and so helpful. So much to look at. He had a HUGE iguana in a closet that was made into a cage which was amazing. The animal had so much room and so much to climb on. I got to pet him! He loved being squirt all over the face with a spray bottle. He raised his head up with eyes closed and seemed as if he was smiling. I'm in love. ?? we found Dubia's there and got a dozen and brought them home to Bug. First time having them and he loves them. I can't wait to go back!!!

That is great news you have a nice shop so close by to you. The reptiles looked well cared for then?
The iguana sounds like he was pretty good sized then.
At least now you can get food & supplies easily too.
I hope Bug liked his dubias, too.

Hi Tracie Bug loved the Dubia's!! The shop was very clean even the room where they bred they're own feeder insects for their herps. Clean floors and no smell. They breed their own feeders for their stock but purchase. The banded crickets for sale. First time I ever bought them. So far no smell and surprisingly quiet. ? He was extremely knowledgable and very concerned with the welfare of his herps and customers. The light bulb prices were 1/2 what I pay for at Petsmart! I'm a loyal customer. He has a very dedicated clientele and is found usually by word of mouth. I'm very happy since we live in a somewhat rural area.

Oh my that sounds great! Where was this at? My boyfriend and I have been looking everywhere for a reptile store in our area so we don't have to keep buying food online so much. We're near Royal Oak, Michigan. Our beardie really likes dubias but we've been having some hard times getting them cause pets stores near us only sell crickets and we're in a cold state so ordering online is sometimes kind of tricky.

Hey beatrice222 I live in Michigan also port Huron area and let me say that every pet shop around my area is horrible reptiles not taken care of in fact I just went to a pet shop today and they had 3 babies together in a 20 gal tank and a little 50 Watt basking bulb no uvb at all I was very angry. Ice have to say that Great lakes reptiles on gratiot and 9mile is a decent place it kind of smells but they take care of their animals for the most part, good prices on roaches and hornworms and it's the best place I can find around here and that's still over an hour away.

We actually live about 45 minutes away from Huron.
We have since decided its probably best to just order all our feeders online due to prices and lack of knowledge by the staff. That plus its easier to get stuff in mass.

I agree I've been doing the same thing lately and I'm overall pretty happy with my orders.
