Reptile carpet and scratching behaviour

My 1 1/2 beardie Ra is quite fond of scratching the sides of the tank and even the bottom of the tank. I am currently using sand as my substrate (bad, i know. I'm planning on correcting the error) but if I use reptile carpet can his nails get stuck and can this do damage to his nails if he still continues to scratch everything?

most likely when you change the substrate to carpet, he wont continue the scratching like he is in the sand...but even if he does scratch some it shouldnt be a problem on the carpet...i would def go ahead and get rid of the sand...its so dusty and is a risk to the dragons health also.

The carpet is working wonders. He still scratches his hide every good once in awhile and still goes for the sides of the tank. I think the only downfall with reptile carpet is the poop stains that is left :|

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
