repicarpet

This is clearly safe for the dragons, but crickets get under the bits that don't stay flat. Also because it only come's 15" or say wide so you need to cut 2 bit the size this also makes it abit crap as this then means more upturned bits, so now i need to some how have this stuck down but also needs to come out when cleaning. I don't want to use any paper towels or any thing of this sort as it don't look good to the eye. I thought the repitcarpet was good at first but now it's more trouble then it's worth.

I'm in the UK if this makes any difference, but want some thing better than what i'm using now.

cheers

You can cut small pieces of velcro (the hook part) and adhere them to the bottom of the tank, then place the repticarpet corners so they'd 'attach' themselves to the velcro.

Many people use ceramic tiles, as they are easy to 'spot' clean, and do not absorb any poo or food. I'm using repticarpet now, I put a few rocks on the corners and the areas the carpet is away from the bottom of the enclosure. I have 2 carpets cut to the right size of my enclosure. Every week, I remove one and place a clean one in, then wash the other.

I've also seen people use magnetic tape, and adhere it to the bottom edges of the carpet, around the perimeter. http://www.amazon.com/Master-Magnetics-07013-Flexible-Magnetic/dp/B000KKWY9A Something like this. It's heavy, so it keeps the edges down, so nothing can crawl under it.

I think we will end up switching to tile with a patch of carpet when we upgrade our enclosure, which will be soon.

Ok cheers

I'll look at both options and see failing that tile it is.

I have been looking at people's enclosures and I no any sand is said to be a no no, but a good 70% of people still use it. I removed the sand a few days after been advised it harms or can harm their health. Just wonder why so many still use it.

I hated repticarpet. Looks bad, crickets go under it, and
Gets real dirty real fast and the poop just doesn't clean off. I prefer alfalfa or sand. I know you're thinking "omg he's using sand, he should read the article and he'll see how bad it is" :) Its up to you. If you want the safest and cleanest substrate, then use tiles. Only con is it doesn't look good and it's the least natural, considering they naturally live on packed dirt, not slippery tiles. It's up too you though

Using tiles is excellent. I just made the switch myself and it's so easy to clean, looks nice if you get the right color, and the crickets can't find their way under.

The kind of tile I got has a pretty rough surface, so they never slip or slide, and it's hard enough to keep the nails trim.

If you want a rougher kind of tile, try slate. Still incredibly easy to clean, and is probably the most natural looking of the tiles.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
