Hey all,

My name is Brandon. I introduced my beardie last summer but thought I would reintroduce Drake since its been so long and I havent really posted much more about him since. He is alot bigger than he was then of course, however I think he is a little small for his age... We are both now living in southwest missouri.

Pics below!

He is in a much bigger enclosure now but still plan on building a nice custom one soon, just havent had the time yet. His old 20 gallon tank is now home to his crickets...(getting ready to breed them...undertank heater on crix). Dont have the MVB bulb anymore as it quit a few months ago... I recently constructed my own light setup with 2 reptisun 10.0 compact flourescents at each end and a zoo med 100W basking lamp in the middle. I also have a 60W night heat bulb thats on all the time at the opposite end (see pics).

I am pretty sure that those compact light fixtures don't give off enough UVB, or they decay very quickly and are no longer effective. And your dragon can see the red night light and it can disturb his sleeping. If the temperatures get too cold at night get a ceramic heat emitter, they give off no light at all.

Yeah, i thought the red light might disturb his sleeping, it was just added... I will probably get a ceramic heat emitter and get it added as night temps do get a tad on the chilly side. I was wondering about the compact flourescents, the two that are in right now are pretty new. Anyone elses thoughts on the reptisun 10.0 compact flourescents?

I'd definately turn off the red light at night - it's been seen to disturb the sleep of dragons at night. If the temps do drop below the low sixties, then I'd suggest going with a ceramic heat emitter instead. If it doesn't go lower than that, don't worry about it, he'll be okay :)

I've not heard anything good about the flourescent compacts. I beleive the problem is that their inital burn/UV output can be dangerously high when used with an aluminum reflector, but it then drops very quickly to below acceptable levels. You can check out http://www.uvguide.co.uk/ for testing results/info on the different types of UV bulbs.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
