Wow thats a beautiful Bearded Dragon! What do you mean they feel different. You mean like physically just because of the smaller scales or what? Where did you buy your bearded dragon from? Again, it's absolutely beautiful!

Yeah, physically. Because they lack the spikes on the back and the scales are flatter they feel... softer, or at least smoother. More like the belly scales do. The normal scales are petty scratchy. :)

Thank you! I got him from a local breeder here in Ohio - MidnightDragonz. Reptile expos are a great way to get experience hold and seeing them in person. The breeder had some leatherbacks too, I was tempted but his color won me over. Haha :)

I have 5 regular scale and 1 leatherback. I love how soft my leatherback feels but the normal scale are my favorite.

This is Scarlett, my leatherback

Scarlett, my leatherback, is about 2 months old now. The picture of Ember was when he was 2 months old, he is now 7 months old and 19 1/2" long. He is a beast. I just pulled a picture of him when he was the same age as Scarlett.

this is a great question! I am looking into a leatherback in the future.I would love to see some more answers to this!!

I have a regular now. She is a beauty but since she is in liver failure I have no idea how much longer I will have her. So I am thinking of a leatherback for my next. It sounds kind of morbid to be thinking about it now but I really don't know how long I will have her but I have been told it won't be long. I will take as long as she gives me for sure! Just doing a little thinking in the meantime.

Here is my leatherback Ember Rose. She is just over 2 years old.
This photo shows her smooth back.

Here is a closer look at her side.

After looking at some of these I decided to go with what I believe to be a leatherback beardie from a pet store here in town! This here is Tony. I've only had him about a week now (I bought another one 3 weeks ago but he was sick so I had to take him back and exchange him about a week ago) but he has been great so far! i couldn't be happier with my decision!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
