Regrowing Toe (Bone looking thing sticking out)

Hi, I've had my bearded dragon for around 2 months and he was 4 months old when we got him. When we got him he had 2 missing toes (back right foot) that were presumably bitten off, since a couple of weeks ago (maybe even a month) a white/grey stub that looks like a bone appeared. I only noticed it when it was about this length, it's getting somewhat (very lightly) yellow and I'm getting concerned. Is this normal?

His enclosure is about 90 gallons, basking temp is about 30/31 degrees, cool side 27/28, uses red (although it's not red) desert sand and we feed him thinly sliced bok choy, carrots, slightly thicker apple pieces and 3 crickets twice a day.

First thing is the sand should go. I'm sure others will pipe in here about the toe. He/she sure has some pretty colors though!

Are you sure he didn't just shed the tip of his toe, making it his natural grey-ish color instead of stained like the rest of his foot?

When we got him what is behind the whitish grey was there but it stoeed there if you cut off the white bit and sealed the open part, that would be what it looked like. That white bit is new.

Either way sand is not a safe substrate to keep your beardie on. It can cause impacting of their digestive system and cause death if not looked at right away. It is also like living in a litter box. If it was me I'd have it off the sand right away. Even the "calci-sand" is not good. The companies claim its edible and is good for them but it's not. Repti carpet or non stick lino tiles or actual tiles are good. News paper and paper towel are good as well. Sand, gravel, crushed walnut shell, wood chips, all bad and unhealthy substrates.

I don't know about you but in my experience the orange sand definitely doesn't come off with a bath. I had my beardie on it for the first three days he was home before I switched to shelf liner, and despite all my efforts his feet are still bright orange over a month later and will be until he sheds them. Poor guy. Lol

That's so weird about the toe though. I don't think I've ever seen a beardie regrow a toe before?? I'm no expert though, so I'll be eagerly awaiting for someone who is to reply. I'm interested to see what's up.

It will generally only come off when he just shed (which he only has once) and it hasn't been left for too long but quite a few times it has come off, but not this time (I gave him a bath a couple of hours ago). As for the toe me too I haven't seen anywhere anything about a toe regrowing just people saying that they won't regrow, so I hope someone knowledgable about this topic will reply soon.

I have touched it, and it doesn't seem to bother him. He couldn't have shed the tip of his toe because he has 3 toes with skin and they all still do, but now there is a fourth toe with no skin. It is a new toe that wasn't there before; when we looked at him (as potential bearded dragon to get) he had two toes (one of which is this) and a little bit of his tail were missing, when we got him his tail had healed and then once we had him for a month or so this toe appeared and has since remained like that
(about a month).

Now the other toe (right next to it) that was bitten off is regrowing. Currently there is only a really small bit sticking out but it is clearly like the other toe (that's regrowing). I'll upload pics tommorow afternoon.

the sand MUST GO for your beardie's sake get rid of it asap as everyone else has mentioned aboue. as for the toe im not sure its growing back as bearded dragons aren't like geckos or other lizards that can grow there limbs tales etc back so i have no idea if it is regrowing as i have never heard of it to happen to any beardie ever to any body part on them i would personally take him/her into a vet have a vet that specializes in reptiles look at the toes they might be able to tell you exactly whats going on with his/her toes, but i highly doubt they are regrowing.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
