Refusing food

Argh bit fustrated, my dragon (unnamed as she was Freddie until I realised shes female the other night haha) wont eat anything but mealworms! She was eating crickets until I ran out over the bank holiday period and all I had was my tarantulas mealworm, so I desided to risk it (shes 6months btw) for a few days. This lasted until my order came yesterday and now she doesn't want any crickets at all. I know I'm probs worrying too early but I really don't want to have to keep giving her mealworms. Also she wont eat her salad either. So now I'm basically starving her in hope she will eat some crickets or salad.

Anyone know what I should do? She normally eats everything I offer her

Going thru the same issue with Mickey. He hasn't eaten crickets in 4 days, and finished up the last of the phoenix worms yesterday. Used to love crickets! Don't think he is eating salad either. I am going to give it a few days...I think he is just being picky!

I guess she's a little to young to be 16" yet, but once she is you can feed her superworms. They look just like mealies so she should take to them. But if she's not that long yet, then you need another option.

Pluck the legs off the crix so they squirm instead of hop? Or stick them in the fridge so they at least are slow and not very active?

Or look into some other types of worms that she can have, like hornworms, silkworms or phoenix worms. Or try dubias..you can find lots of info in the Feeder forum about them if you don't already know about them.

I've been having this problem with Captain Jack as well. He used to love crickets up until about a week ago but, now he won't even touch them.... and he won't eat much salad or worms either. I've been feeding him baby food applesauce just to make sure he eats something.... but his sudden dislike for crickets worries me. It was the main food he loved.

Join the club Norman decided that he no longer wants crickets. I never feed him anything else, he just decided he was done. I purchased a dubia colony which he loved, but is now not eating those. I keep feeding him but I never see him eat. He still has fat patches and is still a big size so I'm not worried about it. If he doesn't want to eat that's his problem. That's what my parents always told me "this is what's for dinner and if you don't want it then you will go to bed hungry". I figure eventually he will eat as long as I keep providing him with food.

My dragon Bob is doing this very thing. He is extremely picky though and some dragons are just that way..... Prior to adopting him from a co-worker he was given only Romaine and supers. She said he wouldn't eat anything else so that's all she gave him. I try to change up his diet, but even now he's refusing his supers and any greens. As a general rule with him I've found that any leafy greens are okay, but cactus is a big no. He doesn't like veggies much.... Any bugs that squirm are usually good but it seems he hates crickets.... he ate them the first few times I gave them to him and now he won't touch them at all. Today he ate 1 adult and one large nymph dubia... first time trying those. From my experience some dragons are a bit unpredictable with what they do and don't like. This week something is a no, next week they can't get enough. And sometimes they just don't want to eat at all, generally around shedding times or if they are stressed.

Wont' touch fruits or vegs, or supers, or crix, etc.
