So on the nutrition list on this site I see redworms which from what i jnderstand are the same as red wigglers listed as a safe food but now I am reading different things.. I am wondering if this is for sure a safe food for beardies? Last thing I want to do is feed him something not safe for him :(

Hi Izzy,

I have to be honest.....in all my years of keeping Beardies I have never heard that it was ok to feed Red Worms. I would say play it safe and stay away from them. I don't feed my Dragons food that is being debated if its good or bad. Just go with all the good feeders like crickets, super worms, reptiworms, wax worms (not a staple) etc. Don't forget a nutritious salad filled with all the proper greens!

I have used them for years and never had a problem. Good nutrition source and great for sick BD. They wiggle so much a I think the BD chomps them to stop them lol

But that being said I never bought them from a bait store, we did rescue, so I had 3 bins with organic waste for them to grow and multiply in. Every 2 months I would split my bins, they multiplied so fast and give some away.

Now you have me interested to learn more about these....lol! I have had Beardies for a decade 1/2 and I never heard of them as a feeder. Let the research begin......

I am thinking I will just go with the Phoenix worms.. Just seems like the safest decision at this point.. I did give Iz two of the red worms but don't think I will continue them.. Thanks for your responses!

Yep! I feed my Dragon Reptiworms (same as Phoenix) as his staple and they are the easiest to keep, safest, and super nutritional feeders to go with I think. You won't be disappointed with the Phoenix worms! Good luck!!!

I paced my order for reptiworms and just have to wait for them to get here.. I'm excited! Wish I knew someone whom could use red worms! :?

I'm happy you ordered them!!! If your Dragon doesn't take to them at first don't get discouraged....he will eventually eat them and like them. It took my boy Scorch a full day to come to terms that the Reptiworms was his new food. Now he cant get enough of them.
Maybe you could find a fisherman in your neighborhood and sell the Red worms to him. It's summer time and lots of people go fishing now!

I can't wait to see his reaction and the reptiworms seem much easier to deal with.. I think I will still do some crickets at times just to give him the need to hunt.. He didn't eat his crickets tonight which he has never done so now I'm wondering if the red worms may have something to do with it, not necessarily bad but something.. Not worried, yet, as he did eat his crickets this morning and some greens throughout the day and then the two red worms.. We shall see how he does in the morning and go from there.. I don't know any fisherman but maybe a bait shop would take them?! Hmm, I need to make a call :D

Has he pooped today?
A bait shop is a good idea! :)

I've never used actual red wrigglers but I have fed fresh dug earthworms or nightcrawls. Most dragons really like them and they are considered a good feeder.

Hmm, well he ate a few crickets this morning but not his normal amount.. He has been preparing to shed, his body has darkened up this past week so maybe that has something to do with it.. I am home all day today so I will be watching him throughout the day.. A few crickets are better than no crickets.. I hope I didn't mess his system up with them darn worms  he's acting normal other than the not eating at his normal pace today :?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
