RED poop help.

I asking this in regards to my sisters beardie. The other day I noticed that the urate had red dots on it. Then she texted me today and told me the poop had red dots on the urate again. Let me go over her set up for you.

She has a 4x2x2 with a MVB, basking temps @ 105-109, cool side @ 80-82 with tile substrate (measured with a wire probe thermometer). She feeds her primarily crickets and occasionally waxworms. She dusts with Calcium w/ NO d3 x 5days and multivitamin x 2 days. She offers salad a couple times a week but I know that she doesn't eat it. To supplement for the salad she feeds her squash babyfood a couple times a week.

Her dragon is twice the size of mine which came together from the same place. The only thing different, is her dragon has been hiding behinde this log thing and we can't even figure out how she's getting in there. When in there, there is no light or anything, and then she gets a black beard if you try to take her out.

I told her she probably needs to get a fecal, but the vet won't do just a fecal without an exam so I told her I'd ask here first. Any help would be great.

Which vitamins is she using? Sometimes, the vitamins can cause speckling of the urates that is noticeable.
However, if it is blood, she could have hookworms that are causing some irritation in the GI tract which causes the bleeding.
How long has this been going on for?
Does she have a hard time going to the bathroom?
How is her appetite?

My sister says that she doesn't have a hard timne going poop, her appetite is the same she says. Its only been going on for 2 days, not every time but just like 2-3 times.

Ok, well, just let her know that she needs to keep a close eye on that just to make sure that it is not blood. It very well could be just some supplementation doing that. If she suspects worms or parasites, she needs to get a fecal done on him.

Those products are fine then, no problem. I am hoping that it was just some specks from the vitamins & that is all.

Well I asked her last night and she hasn't had anymore red poop so thats good, we will just have to keep an eye out. Thanks for your help Tracie!

GREAT news to hear there has been no more red poop! It appears to have been maybe supplement related, or if it was blood, maybe she strained a little bit one day that would have caused that. I am glad she is fine now.

Unfortunately there was more this morning my sister said. I'm going to have to get her to keep a diary of what she is doing, feeding everyday since the red poop isn't everyday so we can try to figure out what it is. Otherwise she's going to have to take her to the vet.

I totally agree. If this continues, a vet visit should be done so a fecal can be tested for parasites & or worms. Too bad, I thought that it was the end of it.
