Red Light

Smaugs temp was only getting up to 90-95 so I asked at the pet store what watt of bulb i should get and they said that the red 50 watt gave more heat then the white so i bought the red (for day time use). now smuag is not eating could it be because of the red light .

I've heard that red lights can cause eye problems and certain other issues. I would recommend switching to a white light. White light is always said to be the best. Are the temps and UVB all okay?

The temp was still low so i added the white light so now I have both red an white light on and the temp is at 110 with both lights. As far as I know the UVB lighting is ok I have the one that everyone has said is best. It is on his cool side as his viv is to small to put both on one side he is in a 10 gallon tank right now. I was told that it is a good size for him for the next few months. I dont no how old he is but I just got him a few days ago.

Honestly...You should just go with a regular white household bulb for your heat. Start with one with wattage that you think would give you the correct amount of heat for the size of your enclosure.
I don't and never have used "Reptile" heat bulbs on any of my lizards....especially colored bulbs. All you need is a good UVB bulb and a regular house bulb for heat.

What size is your enclosure and how are you measuring the temps?
