Hey i'm Brian and I've had two juvinile beardies for about a month. I just found this site a couple of days ago. I've got a decent size tank, i don't know the exact dimensions for it yet, lol can't find my tape measure. My dragons are healthy and like to be handled, they eat insects two times a day and veggies once a day, i mist them with water once everyday. i've heard that you need a background for the tank, is that true? I don't have one but should i get one? I've got them on this wood shaving type substrate, but i'm going to buy some repti carpet soon. I'd appreciate any advice anyone has for me. Is there any type of fruits that i'd be able to feed them? I'd like to give them a variety to make their lives that much better. Once again any advice would be greatly appreciated, and i'll be able to get some pics once i get a new camera.

Hi and welcome! I would recommend getting them off the shavings and onto paper towels, shelf liner, tile or repti carpet as soon as possible. I use the repti carpet myself. They can eat any sort of sand or shavings and become impacted and die.

I do not have a background on my viv. It is just white, so they don't see their reflection. Previously I had them in a 40 breeder tank without a background and they seemed fine. I think they enjoyed looking out and seeing what was going on around them.

There is a great list of what to and not feed them on the beautiful dragon site. I refer to this a lot because I also want to provide a good variety for my dragons. http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html

Again welcome and good luck!

Thanks for the link, There is nothing but glass on my viv, so my beardies can see their reflection... Should i make it so they can't see their reflection? I heard somewhere that it stresses them.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
