Hi
I'm hoping that you might be able to forward some advice? after reading many posts here your name as being an expert kept coming up. Of course I'm not about to make you responsible for any suggestions but I'm hoping for your thoughts?
I had bought a bearded dragon for my granddaughter about 3 years ago so that when she visited she would have her, this came after the cat I had for many years for her ran away and even being chipped by the vet we never heard back.
Its been a learning curve for me and the reason for a bearded was that my son (her father) had one.
This bearded has had a great life from the start after getting her as a baby from a pet store chain. Right from the start I bought a new 40 gallon terrarium kit complete plus a 20 gallon so that in the summer she could spend time outside during the hot weather days. I decided from the start not to use sand but purchased the proper flooring green carpet.. Well I sometimes give her a warm bath and recently I think this is where the problems started, Jut my opinion though. She loves crickets and horn worms as meat and I feed her a variety of greens that I found on the site as best to feed bearded, so she eats great and has a spotless life, meaning never living is crap. so here I go.
I gave her a warm bath because she hasn't crapped for 3 days and this just works fine, this day she decided to plunge her head under the water? (before any crap in the water) I always use a laser thermometer to reach the perfect water temp, so I took her out put her under heat lamps to dry as always, then she ate her 10 - 15 crickets as usual. The days after I noticed that she stopped eating her dry food, water, crickets, greens ? and then I noticed her throat swelled up but most her left side. reading posts here and elsewhere everyone said that she might have a cricket stuck in her throat so I couldn't open her mouth so I took her to the vet, they opened her mouth and said that there wasn't anything, I took her back the next day and said here throat looks like its swollen more, they gave me ((( Enrofloxacin ))) and (((Sulfadimethoxine ))) this is the 4th day giving her 0.46 ml orally of15 mg/ml solution Enrofloxacin. and 0.4 ml orally of 87.5 mg/ml solution of Sulfadimethoxine. The swelling is still bad and I'm waiting to see when it will stop swelling. Feeding her is none excising, I have been trying to feed her baby food but that's a challenge and I'm worried.
To me it seems like when my kids used to get swallon glances from not draining the bath water from their ears. this is what I think but the vet didn't suggest anything other then finding a specialist which is hard on the weekend and its far from me, 80 miles? not that it matters.
One side is definitely the problem as the other is fairly half the size.
PLEASE any idea's?
