But What I dont understand is... what about heat. Do the Flood light provide enough heat or any at all? I got a clamp lamp with a rating up to 150 watts. Thats should be fine depending on the wattage I choose. Im wondering ifI should buy a 150 watt bulb. The tank I made for Mink is 44 long by 17 wide by 19 high. The tank I made for X-oshi is 48 long by 24 wide by 19 high.

We use a 75 watt bulb for Lilly's viv 36"x13"x24" and a 100 watt for Tyson's 40 gallon breeder. We have found out, though, that temps are trial and error (unfortunately). One thing I like about buying pet store bulbs is you can try them and then bring them back.

You definitely do not want to get a 150 watt(way too much wattage). The flood lights put out alot of heat, so don't worry about that!

As Sara said....she is using a 75watt and a 100watt in her enclosures. You'll have to try them both to see what kind of temps you get. You should not need anything higher than 100watts for your size enclosures. Like I mentioned before....make sure when measuring your temps on the basking side...do it directly on the basking spot. Allow the therm probe to sit on the spot you are getting temps for 45 minutes for your most accurate temp.

Let us know how it works out for you. You may see a big difference in your beardies behaviors with the bright basking light.

Ok, so I finally got a light that will put my basking temperuture within working range. I getting consisted readings of 106 to 108. Thats 106 in Mink's tank and 108 on X-oshi's. I think the ambient temperature of my house might be affecting the basking temperature. However, I took this readings at night time and the window is open by minks tank so I figure its affecting it but not by much. If anything once my AC gets fixed then it migh make the temps drop a degree or two. So I guess im in the safe zone. Also, I even have the lamp focus on a peice of slate in both tanks. Since Slate can hold heat really well. So, I figure if I need to drop the heat but not change the bulb. I can remove the slate and put a piece of wood tile there instead. Checking the temp with nothing there showed a huge drop in temp very fast. So, if I need to regualte temps. I just need to removed everything there and it will be fixed. Now I just need to figure out the cooler side.

I got the the right light I needed a couple of days back. But still no change in their behaviour. They still do not eat. I don't get it. Im really thinking about selling them or giving them away. I provide all the things they need, and yet still no appetite increase.

It's relocation stress I believe. You just recently got them, then rehoused them. Give it one more week, then we'll see.
Hang in there !
I had one that didn't eat well for 2 months before I got him sorted out, now he is the longest, and heaviest of my 3!

Well im going to try and take them to a vet. Anybody know of a good vet in Midland/Odessa. If they have a sickness then that might be it, i'll nurse em back to health. But if not, I don't know. I don't want to be looked at like one of those "Bad caretakers".

Finally got the AC fixed. Thank Goodness, it was touching 90's in the house lately. The good thing about it My cool side is actually finally a cool side. I will take a more accurate temp for the cool side once, the ouse temperature reaches normal. To what we usually had it at before the breakdown. My basking temps are actually proving to be a little cooler than expected. I might just put some type of platform or get a stronger floodlight. I wont be able to tell until I see then. But the good thing about this is, not only is it no longer ot all the time in this house. But the dragons have better temps in their homes. Even my fish are less stressed. So once the temps stabilize, I hope I see an increase in there diets.

Hopefully their appetites will increase now that the temps are better. Are you keeping them well hydrated? If not, that can affect their appetites a lot. I recommend bathing babies 3 to 4 times a wk. Certainly can't hurt.

Yeah I bathe them, sometimes I see stains on them and soemtimes they look like they just thirsty so I let them chill in water. They seem to like it. They become less stressed a whole lot.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
