Our bearded dragon, Sirilius, has been nose diving, for lack of a better term, off of her basking rock. She engages all of her legs to climb, but not the back legs when she gets off. My daughter kept telling me that she was falling off her rock and I finally was able to catch her doing it on video.

It did not look normal or agile. We are going back to the vet Tuesday to take a closer look at some swelling on her front arms and I plan on discussing this with her.

We were rocking and rolling along and then it seemed as if she started having problems. Anyone else experiencing this and should I look at a different basking rock. It’s the one that came with the “kit”. She was pretty good with it as a smaller dragon but I am wondering it is no longer serving its purpose. She is 6 months old and a littler over a foot long. Thanks!

I would take the basking piece out if shes nose diving off that piece ASAP --- what are you using for a UVB? Is it the one that came w/ the "kit"?

Nothing else that came with the kit is in use. I learned after the fact that the “kit” was pretty useless. I do have the thermometers in there, but they are a back up in the event that my digital thermometers malfunction.

Repti sun HO bulb is mounted on top but the mesh has been cut away so there is no filter of light. 150 watt basking bulb.

Any suggestions for replacement basking rock? I liked that one because she could get closer to bask.

Thanks for the quick response. You were really helpful when we first got our beardie.☺️

Until we can figure out why shes doing the nose diving thing its best to have something low so you may haft to do some adjustments to the light and lower it or get something not so high that she cant nose dive off of --- something flat like a shoe box at a slant turn it into a ramp type -- you dont want her hurting herself anymore --- I am going to flag your post to Tracie --- the UVB is what distance your using the T 5 ? Distance is 12-15 inches or the T 8 w/ a distance of 6-8 inches?

T5. I moved her hammock over to the warm side and situated it so that she can climb up and down on it like a ramp and use her log to get to the floor of her terrarium. It has a little blanket over it so it can serve as a hide underneath. She seems content right now.

I hope to have more information Tuesday. Thank you so much for your help.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
