We brought Batman home when he was just two weeks old and today he is 10 weeks old and 10.5 inches! His tail started to shed again today...I think he's going to be a big guy :)

First night home: Keegan (my 3 year old human) and Batman!

Males are crazy, that's all I can say, they're so full of hormones and yes, beardies as a whole can change any part of their body that they will. It's amazing to watch as it matches their moods a lot of the time. As for the tail, even my girls had dark at the end of their tails a lot, then they would lighten up when really warm from their baths, then darken up again when at regular temps. The boys are more dark whenever, no rhyme or reason to their moods. You just have to go with the flow  so to speak

Well...I had no idea! Thanks everyone! You always pick me up :) ok, so I'm a little shocked at the color changing tail...BUT...my bearded dragon can chance the color of his tail. That's also COOL.

I love YOU Esther!! You sure can brighten up anyone's day! If you came back as my pet I snuggle you alllllll the time!!!!

:)

Not to offend anyone...but well...what's that saying? Ahhhh "Boys will be boys" and THAT isn't offensive. Changed the wording at the last second

I know we can't truly love an inanimate object but if we could...I'd love 100% cocoa butter. Heck..I DO! 2 days into treatment, only one FULL treatment though, and his tail is WHITE, lifting, peeling!! I was worried as he was eating one dubia a day for a few days but didn't bring it up. Now, I'm convinced it's the shed.

I know the responses to those posts by heart ;) HAHA! So, he's about to fully shed again. Scratching his mouth and bulging his eyes, dragging sides of his face all over every log and even his hammock

One quick question, if we made it possible by using a q-tip or something similar (soft/thin) can I apply it around his face? Eyes, mouth? I'm DOUSING his back tonight. Looks like a VERY thick back peel again. It was so dark, practically black this morning and I could see it crinkle up in certain positions. Poor dude. Back was always a problem...never had a worry about his tail but as I'd mentioned before, seems to be these tough sheds are certainly the new trend :(

Love you "guys" and all your support and GENTLE guidance/suggestions!

Hope you all have a safe and happy day!!

I agree with Esther, anything to help that shed come off is a good thing, just not in his eyes. You can help, once it's loosened up by using a soft toothbrush to help it come off, preferable in the bath when the skin is wet, especially his back. Let us know how that went!

Ok so no cocoa butter near eyes no matter what, definitely lathering his back. What about the sides of his poor face like above the top and bottom corners of his mouth? Or wait and do my toothbrush thing with that, too?

I've always done the tail and back with cocoa butter, wasn't sure of the safety as far as applying it anywhere else so we never attempted it. We use the toothbrush "trick" daily. He loves it, shedding or not haha! Especially brushing his beard. He practically falls asleep in the tub. His eyes close and as soon as he starts floating I have to stop to remind him he's in water!

Esther has the right idea! Being one of your pets would be awesome! You cater to their every whim and always want all of them to be as comfortable as possible. What a great human and reptile mom. :D Kristine, you are truly amazing.

It's fine to use the cocoa butter anywhere on him, I agree, not the eyes. Also be sure to put it on before bed so it can sink in. Not a good idea to put him under his basking lights after applying it. BUT it is normal to see a little leftover butter that looks shiny.

You're all too good to me!!!!

YUP, we apply and lights go out. We will avoid eyes and didn't go near the sides of his face/mouth area as it hadn't been mentioned yet...

According to hubby we're about 50% done. This is how far we got the outside lit this evening!

It's kind of a bummer. The pics do it NO justice. There are lit up spiders in the web, jack-o-lantern lights, skeleton lights, candy corn lights, five hanging ghosts...taking pics of lights is tough to show the detail. There's a lot though, took a couple hours just to set up 1/2 of it!

I can see what you mean, but we can put our imagination to work and imagine all the things you've mentioned. The kids must be so stoked to know, starting tomorrow, it's Halowe'en month!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
