I definately don't think it's too soon. I just lost my Yellow lab of 11 years 2 weeks ago to cancer. It was heart breaking. From the time she started showing signs of something was wrong, until we had to put her to sleep, it was a total of 1 month. It was the most heartbreaking thing ever, and I still cry thinking about it. With her passing so quick, I believe it was because she had such a good life, that it was her time because another dog needed to be saved. I found a website called T.R.A.I.N. and found a most beautiful yellow lab mixed that was abused at only 5 months old and in desperate need of a new home. So, we are going to adopt her and driving to NJ to pick her up. She will never replace Sadie, my lab that died, but she needs the love, and we are ready to give it to her!

Your new beardie will never replace Razz, but you will love it just the same!

Hi Laura,
Thank you :)

I know you are right...our hearts have plenty of room for sure so I know we will have a different guy by the first week of May. Will post an intro of course then.

So sorry to hear of your loss of Sadie. We have a Yellow Lab as well. She is almost 6yrs old and I know the day will come for her to cross over the Rainbow Bridge so we just love on her as much as possible now :).

Thank you again,
Sherri

Hi Gail,
Thank you, it means a lot to read the kind words ya know?

According to all the vets it is highly highly doubtful this was a 'genetic occurance'. It was explained to me as something just like any animal or human may be born missing a limb if that makes sense. They all thoroughly convinced me not to 'blame' genetics or the breeder and certainly not to 'blame' ourselves.

They want to use his experience to help learn how best to treat an animal with such a condition and what signs to be watchful for....that kind of thing.

Barry has been extremely compassionate and as busy as they are he has spent hours on the phone with me before we purchased and then after of course and because of our conversations we will have our new little guy arrive from them the end of April or first week of May.

This forum is such a blessing to us. It has been from the beginning and we actually found Razz due to posts suggesting BBD's. I can not imagine being able to care for our beardies properly without all the advice and friendships here

I can not thank you enough for all of your help and the information you provide is greatly appreciated for certain. I believe it is time for me to become a website supporter as I owe so much to the boards here.

Thank you again and I know I will be posting a new intro soon~~~~

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my greyhound Simone two years ago, she was about 10 years old when she passed. We did not want to get another dog to quickly but a breeder contacted us about a whippet puppy she had and she could not keep him around. We picked him up a couple days later. I did not want him as a way to replace Simone, just to help ease my pain. It did help a lot, but I never saw him as a replacement for Simone. Nothing can replace her.
When you do get another beardie NEVER see it as a way to replace Razzle, nothing can replace him.

Rest in peace Razzle :(

I am truly sorry for your lost. I recently lost a 3 month old juve and like yours, he hid it real well and died a mere 3 days after he started showing symptoms, it was a real blow to us, especially after frantically trying to do anything that could save him. His sibling Cookie is still with us and healthy :) No beardie will have the same characteristics as your Razzle did, but I'm sure you'll grow to love your new beardie when you have decided it's time. Take it easy :)

I agree with them all, Redrock wasn't a way to replace Miss O and Miss Y, she was a new one to love. Rosie's purchase was the same, she didn't and could never replace Redrock but I wanted two to love.

I am so sorry to hear of everyone elses' loss as well....it really does hurt, but we have decided to have a new little guy arrive the end of this month or first week in May most likely. I know how bitter/sweet it will be and I know that given enough time the sweet will outway the bitter and when thinking/speaking of Razzle The First only smiles will fill us.

Thank you again you all have truly helped.
Blessings,
Sherri

can't wait to see new pics!! I'm going this weekend to pick up a rescue dog who has been abused the 5 short months of her life... It won't replace my Sadie, but it feels good that I can help another animal in need because of losing my love Sadie.

And she's the cutest thing ever... and I hope she loves beardies!!

Miss O died on a Wednesday at the vets, we went to Tucson to get her body on the following Saturday we picked up two more, Redrock and one we named Sandstone. Unfortunately, we only had Sandstone for about 4 months before he/she disappeared.

Oh, I am so sorry about Sandstone and Miss O :(. It is very possible that someone found Sandstone and instead of posting flyers, ads etc. just decided to keep him...maybe they found out how to care for him or sold/gave him to someone who would love on him. *That* is how I would think of it ya know?

I am glad to hear Redrock is still with you,

Her name is Hannah right now, and I think she knows it, so we are going to keep it. Even though my daughter wants to name her Lillie. I wanted Shiloh... But now I'm getting used to calling her Hannah.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
