Random Beard Puffing

Hello all!

I'm still rather now to the community and to owning a beardie so new behaviors can baffel me if I can't figure stuff out with my trusty beardie handguide or a search engine.
Lately Isis has been puffing out her beard to it's fullest extent. It's almost never starts when I'm looking but I turn around and she had her beard out, and sometimes her body puffed too. But she never seems startled, and her mouth is always closed. Sometimes she's seesm to "hiccup" in the middle of it. Then after a couple of seconds everything relaxes back to normal.

Now I'm also not too sure about Isis's status as a female dragon, It might turn out that Isis is actually an Osiris. Would this be a common behavior (if it's common at all) in male and/or female dragons?

She's about 7 months old, over 13in long (including tail), Eats dubians, wax worms and lots of healthy greens throughout the day.She also gets regularly misted with water, and has a water dish that she's doesn't seem too fond of, but she passes the skin pinch test according to the vet.

It is probably due to either her shedding, or just morning stretches. When they shed they puff their beard and bodies to try to "pop" the shed, so it's common in male and female. A lot of them will also do morning stretches, where they puff out their beard a few times in the morning. My girl does it every morning like clockwork, about 5 puffs each time, then a body puff and she's done. Lol it's quite amusing.

If you place her in your palm, lift her tail and take a pic I can help you tell if it's a boy or a girl.

its just morning streatches my male does it shortly after i turn the lights on he puffs up and puffs his beard out. have you seen her yawn yet? its the funniest thing ever!

Any chance she does it more often in the mornings? It sounds like normal beard stretching, both genders do it.

Yep, them's the stretchy-flappin's.
Same way it's nice to roll your head and click your jaw, it's nice for beardies to give their beard-tendons a good reset. It's also good practise for younger males - you'll see they practise rather pathetic looking little sooty flappy beardies for a few weeks before they get the hang of pulling proper big-boy faces.
