Why did he die?
Fatboy was 2 yrs old this fall . I thought 3 but after research he was going to be 2
He was a normal eating machine show no signs of being sick.
In Febuary he had a bout with pin worms
We dosed him with panacur as vet subscribed .
2 months later the fecal came out ok no signs of worms.
Fatboy was living in a 4x2x2 crossfire design .
His lighting was a mega-ray 100 sb.
Basking area 103 14 inches under the light.
He was very spoiled and would only eat mustard greens or collarads if hand fed.
He loved mustard greens dipped in squash babyfood.
Something we usd when he was dealing with pin worms.
His main staple was superworms eat about 8 per day dusted with calcium without d3
We did notice the last 2 time he pooped in cage it was really runny.
We thought it was just because he was well hydrated.
He did not eat on Friday just stayed under his favorite rock hide.
Saturday morning i decided to give him a warm bath.
As put him in tub his head went under for just a second and air bubbles cam outof his nose.
I immediatly took hime out of bath.
My wife took him outside for some sun.
As she was holding him he started gagging and threw up pcs of un digested super worms
We had him scheduled for a vet visit next week because in october he decides to
brumate and we wanted to make sure he was ok to go into brumation.

Thanks to all of you for helping me raise Fatboy and steering me in the right direction.
One thing we did notice this summer is it seem like he was alwas shedding on 1 part of
his body or another. where did i go wrong

I am so sorry to hear about Fatboy.You didnt do anything wrong his enclosure was set up correctly and I know you cared for him a great deal.It does sound like he was having either digestion issues or possibly even parasitic.Its so hard to know whne these guys are not feeling well sometimes as they hide it so well.The only other think I can think of is that he aspirated some water into his lungs during his bath.How long after the bath did he pass?

I am so sorry about Fatboy. You were a good beardie parent, and I am sure he knew that he was loved and you cared for him.

Oh dear, I'm so sorry to hear about Fatboy. I agree that you didn't do anything wrong, you did everything right. It's impossible to know what exactly happened and why. Fatboy was about the same age as Widge was when he passed. He had also coughed up some undigested supers and passed 2 days later. I'm thinking that Widge might have choked on a super and it went the wrong way causing problems. Not sure if that's what could have happened to Fatboy or not. You can't beat yourself up over this, believe me I know that it will drive you crazy.

Remember the wonderful memories you had with him, he will always hold a very special place in your heart.

Thanks to all .
i know i did everything i could to make this a happy spoiled little Dragon.
Here it is 2 days later and i still look for him when i come home from work.
All i had to do is say Hey FATBOY what cha doing .
He would run from wherever he was hiding and run up to glass doors and expect to
be picked up and spoiled some more.
Who would have ever thought a lizard could have that kind of affect on you.
My wife has her sewing machine set up in living room next to a window
next to his viv.
She say;s he would watch her all day to make sure she didn't make any mistakes
Well since I got all this stuff set up just right no need to let it go to waste.
Going to reptile show in October to purchase another dragon.
Seen a very nice looking 2 month old german giant at A1 Reptile's i am seriously thinking about
but thought i would wait for the show to see what they had to offer.

Mike, I just read the postings about Fatboy. I'm sorry you lost your beardie. Well lost Bello last Sept 11th. so I know how you feel. It feels empty.
The only advise I can give you is to mourn but don't mourn too long. He's gone and no matter how hard you wish for him back, God just doesn't work that way.
The best thing you can do is get another beardie. There are plenty of dragons out there that need good, loving homes and it sounds like you spoiled Fatboy which is good.
Don't let the loss of Fatboy ruin it for you. Take some time and you and your wife go out and get another. The best thing you can do in Fatboy's memory is to give another beardie a good home.
The memory of Fatboy will always be with you but now you have a chance to help another.
Having beardies is a chancey thing but always remember one thing....yes he died but he died loved and spoiled and that's better than dying alone and un-loved.
I hate to hear about beardies dying but it does happen. A pet doesn't have to be furry and fluffy to have an effect on us and these dragons are magical little creatures. The pain of your loss will subside. My best goes out to you and your wife. Sincerely, Robert & Jackie, Las Vegas, NV.
