Quick question reg: basking

Hey guys,
got a quick question for you.

So today, i was just checking out Chaces enclosure, and noticed that the rocks i use for his basking area were pretty hot, (i could place my hand on them without taking it away, but still pretty hot)
Im a bit scared that he might get burnt from them, so i come here to ask you a simple question..

Whats the best thing to use for your beardies to bask on?

Rocks seem to hold alot of heat, how about a thick branch, log, or am i just over protective lol

i use a wooden platform, but have used rocks in the past. i think it depends how far away from the bub it is, close = wood, far=rock
