Questions about Primo

So, Primo hasn't been that active lately. He will walk around a bit, but a lot of the time during the day I sometimes see him in his cave or away from the basking spot lying flat with his eyes open, not sleeping. He seems more lethargic then he used to be, and he isn't eating as much. This is the 3rd day of him not eating when I put like 6 superworms in front of his face and he just stands there, he will for a little bit look interested, then look away, it's really annoying. He doesn't eat vegetables, he never has, I have tried, but he won't. The tank is set up perfectly, right temps, Repti-sun 10.0 UV light, 4X2X2, etc. Also, he poops on average every 3-4 days, and when he does, the urine can come out in balls it looks like once its dried, and the last 2 times there has been a long, gewy string like line of blood that comes out. Any opinions as to what's wrong with him? He seems like a healthy beardie, besides these points.

sounds like parasites time to take a fecal in to the vet and get some deworming started asap albon ect. also get him hydrated extra bath time and maybe babyfood till he gets better

Kevin, could you post a picture of his poop and urate? If he is older he may be going into brumation! http://www.beardeddragon.org/articles/brumation/ . I would try to give him more fluids. Good luck..

I know he's not brumating, his activity isn't like brumation, it's just like he's being lazy. I can pull him out of the cave and put him on his backing spot and hes fine. He's being really lazy though. I'm calling a vet tomorrow and getting him there ASAP. Thank you for your concern.

Thank you. It will not be able to be tomorrow, since I haven't called yet, and on saturday I work 7-3 so maybe that would work, pick him up after 3 or something. That would be good.

Just an update, I called the Vet and I'm bringing Primo in @ 8-9PM Tuesday and will be picking him up at 3:30. Hope it goes well

Just for a follow up, I took Primo to the vet and the vet congratulated me on how well taken care of he is. He said he is one of the healthiest beardies he has seen, but he could not get Primo to poop for him lol... Primo was being stubborn, so I have no idea is Primo has parasites or not, but aside from the parasite question, he is in good health.

How old is he? When my 9 m/o brumated, she never fully went to sleep, she was just a pain in the rear. She hid in her cave/ went to the cool side a lot. I could put her on the basking spot and she'd stay for a bit before wondering back to the cool side. At one point, she built herself a new cave using a thermometer and a teddy bear, I kid you not. Just wanted to let you know brumation looks very different in different beardies.

She went from late August to Mid November and woke up with infertile eggs :roll: . I bought her favorite feeders (hormworms) and kind of feel like that snapped her out of brumation, but it may have been the eggs.

I see. That is good to know. It could possibly be the seasons changing to, some real light does get in my room so he would know that the seasons are changing. It just went from summer to deep winter where i live so.. iuno its a possibility.
