Questions about female dragon egg laying!

Hello! So Spyro is doing great! Eating like crazy! Shedding really frequently! She is about 8inches long now! So I have been doing some reading about female dragons laying eggs! My question is do they only lay eggs after being around a male and having fertilized eggs? Meaning after the fertilized eggs come out they will lay eggs every so often without a mate? Or do most females lay eggs without ever being around a mate? Also when should I expect her to have eggs if any? What are some signs I should look for when she gets older because I also read if u don't give them a proper environment to lay the eggs they can bust inside the dragon and kill her! I just want to be prepared!

Hi there.....females can lay infertile eggs without ever being near a male. It can happen any time after 10 months old, although some lay closer to 2-3 years old and some never do lay. A fast growing dragon CAN lay as early as 8 months, but it's very rare. You can check the thread on egg-laying at the top of this forum for what to watch for and then what to do if Spyro ever does develop eggs.

Try to just enjoy her and don't be worried, most healthy females are fine with egg laying.

Thank you! I was just curious because I am using tile in her terrarium and I know she will need a sand box when she is old enough and starts showing signs of egg laying!
