Question!

A friend of mine was able to take in a clutch of eggs that my female laid and they will be hatching at the end of this month and by the middle of next. My question is: If one parent is a yellow color and the other a tan, what would be the 'ratio' of the babies coming out yellow and tan? She laid 20 eggs in all but 6 didn't make it. I ask since I would like to get another yellow female. Delilah, my female, has a really pretty yellow but because of her neglected years, it became slightly dull.

Also, I would like to make an enclosure for them for the outside, but I was wondering what type of shade I could use. I want them to get enough sun, but not too much that they could end up dying since where I live temperatures get to 120. We don't have humidity, but temps of that high could kill them. So I was wondering what kind of shade I could use, and what type of material could I use to build the enclosure? I was thinking a wooden would be suitable, but I'm not sure what kind of material the base should be. They would only be outside for a period of time each day under my supervision, but as I said, I would like to know what materials would be beneficial for them!

Hi there....you will have a mix of colors, many of them will be a muted yellow/tan, probably not high color. The babies will not hatch with high color at all, even very bright yellow beardies don't start out very bright....you have to wait for a couple months at least to see color. They will probably have strong patterns but not much color as babies though.

For outside, you can make a wire cage with either pvc pipe or wood for the frame. You can provide artificial shade by positioning large artificial plants around the cage as well as an actual flat piece of wood or something to keep at least one section in complete shade. If it's really hot out you might just put them out in the a.m before it's too hot.

@AHBD Thank you for the answers! For the outside enclosure, I wanted to make it wood but I'm not sure what material I should use the platform. I was thinking maybe a wood type as well but sanded down and maybe even a cloth over it for them. And I also wanted to do a two layered enclosure with one side of each floor shaded with a small little tub of water for them.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
