I reallllly want to!

I really get a beardie from bloodbankdragons. They have some really nice dragons right now.

I currently have a beardie that is 2 months and 10 days. Would introducing a new beardie to his 40gal tank be trouble some? I know I would have to move the new beardie out before 6months of age is reached but I was just curious if this was even an option or should I just put the new 1 in it's own tank?

Nope, don't house them together. Even at that age one will become dominant, or they might hurt each other. There is really no good age for housing beardies together.

Ok, Thanks for the information. At any point in time can they meet? outside of their tanks or should I handle them separately all the time?

You can try to carefully introduce them to each other outside the tanks, but only when they are similarly sized. Make sure you are standing right there, and if it doesn't go well, separate them immediately, and don't try again. Beardies don't really crave each others' companionship, so they aren't getting lonely or anything!

Ok. I intend on getting the opposite sex dragon as well, if that makes any kind of difference.

Thanks for all the information so far though :)

Yes, it makes a difference - if they meet outside the tank, the male will probably try to mate with the female. So unless you want a LOT of babies (2-4 clutches of 20+ eggs each) or to kill the eggs, I wouldn't let that happen.

Getting a 2nd is up to you. At young age they need a lot of protein crickets and I know gets very costly. It's truly up to you to get another. Mateing will cause your female not to live as long getting pregnant causes a lot of stress on her body lowers her life span. Females don't live as long as males just way it is with most reptile species. I agree don't house them together. Isn't good at any age. Think it's ok when hatchling clutches together. Beardies get very angry the older they get when like a male sees another male. Females usually makes the male head Bobb and turn very black. Females sometimes will go after the male if they don't want to mate.
When housed together I seen beardies with no tails no legs and fatal as well. I done it before thinking it was ok and found out it was not and separated them. I lucked out with the female just getting pregnant and few clutches of eggs. Most dragons aren't as lucky female female isn't good but has been successful but wouldn't do it. The worse male and male housed together they want to kill one another other then be buds.

I've only had mine for 2 weeks and I already want another one.

They're like potato chips. You can't have just one. :D

True but a lot of newbies need to know that beardies are loners. Not housing together or even stress if there in there tanks and can look eye to eye from across the room. Stress them and they just jump around on glass other then relaxing under the lighting with what's important to them.
Plus baby beardies are costly and if that's a issue I would start breeding feeders before you get another. My two will eat a lot at one feeding even at adults oboy!

To be SAFE i would put the second in its own tank. I wanted a beardie that i could put in the cage with Sunny infact i saw a beautiful sandfire today and it was only $90 i wanted to get it for me as an impulse buy. I dont want another beardie right now though and when I think about it and what you should think about. is do i have room for two growing dragons? Do i have the funds to care for another baby? Are they different sexes or same sex? Are they both going to be very dominate and end up fighting? There are questions you can easily answer like if you have room and if you have the money. The other two are not as easy to answer. The easiest one to answer is the sex of the BD's. The one you wont know the answer too is if they are both dominate. So its always just better to not house them together because you cant always be there and a fight can break out and they could get injured very badly and rack up some vet bills or one or both could be killed. So a separate tank is the best.

The issue isn't whether one or both is dominant. It's that unless you are literally there all the time watching them, you never know when one will decide to be aggressive. All it takes is one attack.

I agree even a male will get agressive with a female after a year of age. If you can't afford a second setup then I wouldn't think about a second dragon. There great pets but don't get along with other dragons.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
