Question about covering top of enclosure.

Right now we have out baby beard (between 6 and 7 inches long) in a 10gallon tank until I can finish his permanent home. This is my first experience with reptiles and I have been researching incessantly and understand there shouldn't be anything between the UVB and the tank(such as screen). The light/light enclosure spans the width of the tank and covers the back half. I bought a 5.5 inch dome for the basking lamp, and it has the clamp on it. I'm paranoid about him escaping as he has a log that ends about 3 inches from the top(the high point is directly under the UVB bulb). The low point under the basking bulb is about 7.

. Should I be concerned about leaving the front part open? In was thinking about some 2 inch chicken wire to cover that part since it would minimally interfere with the basking bulb. Should I be concerned about him clinging to that and potentially climbing through?

I can't wait to have his big enclosure done so I can stop trying to manage this tiny ass tank.

Yes, keep it covered., those little guys can jump good. You would have hard time finding him if he got out.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
