question about cats

I have 3 cats and I am a little worried about them just on top of the viv. my current setup is working so far, but I don't know if it will last. if I put a piece of plywood on top of the viv, would that restrict Jean-Luc's breathing? are there any other options I should try?

If you do put a solid top on, you'll want to make sure there is adequate ventilation. You have one of the Nat Geo tanks with the mesh top and the front opening doors right? That should be pretty secure as it is.

No mesh is cat proof , I've seen instances where cats have broken through wire bird mesh to get birds or lizards or frogs. Only sure way to keep a cat out of the tank is to remove the mesh and replace it with either solid plywood or MDF.
The boy who lives next door had a colony of Jacky Dragons in a large tank which had bird wire mesh on top, one day when everyone was out (kids at school and the parents at work) their murderous cat broke through the mesh and killed 5 of his 6 pet Jacky Dragons , took them out of the tank to torture to death one at a time.

This WILL make the tank cat proof

No the dragon WILL NOT suffocate.

10 years ago i had a few dogs, a couple beardies and a cat. we introduced the cat to the beardies and over time they cohabitated quite well. at times i would come home to find the cat asleep on the couch and the beardies curled up under her. the dogs were a lab and a mixed boxer, the boxer was very conscious of where he was walking but there were a couple of times the lab bumped into the beardies.

the cat was a tabby and an outdoor cat at that, she and the beardies got into a bit of a fight early on and even sense then they got along famously. (the beardies charged the cat when she was kind of stalking them).

i wouldn't trust any (cat proof) enclosure as cats are extremely resourceful, mine would open the fridge and take food out all the time (she even taught the dogs how to do this..., we had to pad lock the damn thing). id lean towards trying to get them to willingly live together rather than relying on a tank

I am hoping you no longer do that? Letting a predator (cat) with prey (beardie) is an extremely dangerous situation! Too many times people have come on here with, "Oh, look at my cute cat! He loves my beardie!" Then when we try and discourage it, they claim there's is the 'special' one. Then 2 months later in the Beardie ER form we see, "HELP! My cat attacked my beardie!"

Please play safe and NEVER let your two pets out together!

You clearly hate cats. We have no problems with our cat. We have multiple reptiles (securely housed) and she doesn't bother them. Yes some cats have a high prey drive (as do some beardie's mine included) but every cat is not a crazed murder machine.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
