Question about calciworms

I purchased two tubs of them at petco today (I wanted to try them before ordering a bunch online) and out of the two tubs, there are only 4 that are a whiteish color. The rest are black and hard. Are the black ones most likely dead or molting??? Im assuming dead but I just wanted to double check before I returned them all. :)

The brown/black ones probably aren't dead. They turn darker with time as they get closer to morphing into soilder flies. The darker ones move far less but they have more calcium. The only issue may be that some dragons don't eat the darker ones as readily because they are inactive. In the future, check the worms in the cup before you buy them or try Mulberry Farms or The Phoenix Worm Store online. Those sources usually send cups full of white/younger worms.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
