Question about Buddy Age compared to Length

Ok so I have owned Buddy for a week.

I did share in my first posted topic in the intro section, that I was told he was 4 months old.

I'm not sure to be honest.

He is in a 40 gallon breeder, nicely set up, with a 107 basking area(digital thermometer as a constant there), 94 on his hot side, and 80 on his cool side.

Overnight sits at 80 when the lights go out.

Now here is my concern

I've read that a 4 month old should be around 8-10 inches w tail? As well, he should be eating about 25 crix a day paired with his dish of greens for when he chooses to snack, which I put fresh daily grated carrots, collard, and dark leaf lettuce

He only is eating about 15 crix a day currently, and I finally measured him today, and he is coming in at 6 3/4" from tip to tip.

So I am asking, is he younger than 4 months? (Petsmart purchased), vet checked and healthy, but the dr couldn't specify exact age.

Or is he just small?

To start out , ill tell you that all beardies grow at different rates, there are so many factors both internal and external.

Now im not sure where you read that 4 month old dragons should be eating 25 crickets, but that is false information. There is no tangible value set for how many live feeders they should be eating.

You should, however , be offering him live feeders 2-3x a day, feeding them as many as he will eat in 10 to 15 minutes. im assuming you are doing just one. I have found that in my experiences, young dragons tend to eat anywhere from 10 to 30 feeders per feeding, so if you do that 2-3x youre looking at anywhere from 20 to 90 a day!

No, I am doing 2 live feeds a day. An hour after he wakes up, he will eat about 5-8, and at dinner time, another 6-9 crix....

I have offered Buddy the 3rd live feed, but he never takes more than 1 cricket.

So that's why I thought the age might have been off, compared to what he likes to eat, and his size.

After researching his size, length, diet, and other petsmart purchases from other people, it appears Buddy is only about 8 weeks old.

Here is a couple new pictures taken of him as of an hour ago.

I agree that he's probably only a couple of months old. Still a little guy with the cute round head. Enjoy that while it lasts =)

Looks like a similar size to my guy when I got him from Petsmart but they told me ~8 weeks. One thing for sure, disregard just about anything they tell you.
Super cute though, glad to hear he's healthy!
Caution with the fake plant thing, looks like the same suction one I have, my beardie has taken a few spills when the suction cup falls off lol.

What he said, disregard just about anything they tell you lol. without proper food , uvb and temps growing is minimal. Ive seen dragons stay the same size at these store for months and months

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
