I'm not sure what it actually is, but it is similar to a fluffy sawdust Just put them in some water - the worms float, the substrate sinks. Pick out the worms and they're clean. The only problem with that is that when they get wet, they are able to climb better. It doesn't bother me, though - Pudge doesn't let them climb far.
Hi . I don't know exactly what it is, but there are a few tricks to get it off of them better.
1. You can let them "sit out" for awhile and the packing will dry out and fall off.
2. Put them in water, they float, the packing sinks. They'll climb the edge of a cup fast though, when they get the slightest bit of water on them.
That's just what I do, though.
I've never had a problem with my two getting a little in their systems along with the PWs, but try to prevent it at all costs, because I honestly don't know how bad it is for them to ingest a lot.
Hope that helped some,
Abi
On their website, it does state that the packing will not do any harm if ingested. It's of an organic matter. But, I didn't know you can put these worms in water...I'll have to give that a shot. Also, the water will hydrate my beardies while they are feasting on their PW's! Good deal!
I have found that pouring them into the scooper i used to use for sifting the sand out of his viv
works awsome. just put a paper towel or plate underneath to catch the sawdust and shake them a bit.
Then you can just count out how many you want. No muss no fuss!
