Putting tile down

Hey everyone,

For those of you who have done tile, should I put two large tiles down to fill up the space or grid a bunch of small ones? I went to the home improvement store and they will cut a few for free but after that it is 25 cents per tile, which isn't bad.

I think two large tiles would be easier to clean because they poo wouldn't get in the cracks. What does everyone else think?

One a side note, my boy has mild mobility issues. He is a rescue Beardie and is missing three toes on each back foot, six all together. He gets a little nervous when he can't grip his surroundings right. That is why I have carpet down right now but I hate it. It is not easy to clean and it does not get all the way clean. Do you think he will do alright on the tile surface?

Thanks for all of your help!

Make sure to get rough textured tiles. If you can find something like slate, it would be great. Most glazed tiles will be too slick.

I would get large ones, I had 4" tiles and it was a pain to keep it clean under them.

I agree with Taterbug. I have ceramic tiles that imitate slate and they work very well. I use two and had 3 sets cut so I can swap them out easily while I clean a set.

Ahh good idea! I'm sure I can find something for him that has more of a texture. I will get the larger tiles for sure then. Thanks for the help :)

If I used the large tiles it would come out to two also. That is a great idea to get a few sets of them cut! I never thought of that. It would make the cleaning process much easier. Thank you :blob5:

Kenny in his new tile floored home! :) Thanks for the suggestions guys. I went to Lowes and it was very cheap. I got the two tiles for $7 and they cut them down to size for nothing.

Those look like exactly the same model of tiles I use, in the same exo-terra tank. They work very well and look good in the tank. =)

I had 6x6 slate tiles and they were a pain. I now got two 18" tiles and cut them down a little and work much better.
I did not find anything that was more textured. Maybe Ill try to find something else soon. They seem to do ok on them though.
Cleaning is much easier

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
