If I dont get the reptaid by wednesday I am taking him to different vet b/c mine doesnt specialize in reptiles. I dont know what to do.

Last time he was put on meds from the vet it didnt work. He had parasites from the pet store and the meds did nothing i did two 14 day treatment with 2 diff meds. then once i tried reptaid it worked like a charm i did two 10day treatments and then did antoher fecal and it was clear. so thats why i havent got him on vet antibiotics. but reptaid takes so long to get shipped to Canada.

Hello,

Ok, which meds was he put on before? Reptaid is very strong & should not be given in excess for too long of periods of time.
We need to figure out why he is vomiting blood before giving too many substances. What have you fed him in the past?
How old is he? How big is he?
So, the fecal is clear? If that is true, then it is something internal. How long has he been vomiting blood?
This is an emergency situation, & should not go untreated. Can he hold down any food at all? I would not give him any feeders right now but just soft foods such as chicken or squash babyfood.
Please keep us posted on him.

I do not remember as it was 1.5 yrs ago which meds he was put on. Reptaid was only used for 20days with a 5 day break. (recommended)
I have fed him crickets, superworms, butterworms, salad (endive, squash) fed daily. He is 2yrs old and 16in.
The fecal is not clear it came back chalk full of coccidius and a few pinworms. It came back clear 1.5 yrs ago after the reptaid treatment but now he is infected again. The vet said because of the stress of my moving made them mulitply again. He only vomited this morning for the first time. but has been pooping blood for 2wks and has not eatin for 1mth but has drank water. I bath him as often as I can. I have cleaned his tank and took the majority of stuff out of his tank now. I will buy him some baby food to eat. i still offer the salad but havent been offering feeders because it hurts to poop. Would you say take him to the vet instead of reptaid?? and try the antibiotics again?

Thanks

I'm sorry about your baby, but I agree, you probably should take Puff to the vet, I know the expense is much to be desired, but this is serious..........hopefully, you'll get some answers.

Hello, I just thought I would give anyone who cared an update.

Puff is making slow progress, but at least progress. I have been administering reptaid since late November and he has no blood in his poop and hasnt for 2.5 wks. Hasn't puked blood since the first time. He has started pooping every single day which is wonderful progress as he wasn't pooping at all. He is becoming more aware and alert. Still doesn't have much energy but his head is moving around and he is keeping himself up when I bath him, walking around his cage, also he is walking slowly around my room instead of just being a statue. He has lost a considerable amount of weight, I have noticed a wee bit of salad going missing so I think he is starting to eat on his own. Plus I am syringing him butter nut squash baby food everyday. Too bad I didn't clue into the signs faster because he wouldnt have got this bad if I realized he wasnt eating because of parasites not because of stress. But I am doing everything I can to make his life better right now and I just hope I continue to see improvement in him.

I will keep you updated as time goes on.

Glad to hear Puff is coming around. The fact that he's moving more and eating is a good thing. As far as not having a clue sooner, under the circumstances, stress would have been the first guess, but, many times it's hard to tell anything is wrong with them as they tend to not show any syptoms until they are quite ill. Don't beat yourself up over it, parasites can quickly devatate a dragon, and you have done a wonderful job treating him and getting him to start bouncing back.

Thanks for saying that. I have been in distress ever since he vomitted blood. I am just trying to stay positive.

Keep doing what your doing! It's working. It's very hard to get them healthy again, and dragons heal slowly so it take a while for them to get back to normal. Give yourself a pat on the back, you saved his life.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
