Puffing Beard when it's dark

Hi everyone, my little 1 year old beardie is always puffing his beard when it's dark in my room. For example, every morning when I wake up and his lights are turned off, he's puffing his beard. Also, when I close the curtains in the middle of the afternoon, even if his lights are on, he's puffing his beard. Even when it's cloudy or raining outside he sometimes puffs his beard. Other than that, in the middle of the day he seems really happy. I think it's a pretty strange behavior and I would like to know if anyone has experienced something like that. Thanks!

My lil guy is just over a year & he is starting to go thru his puberty stage. He is puffing every morning when hs lights come on but after an hour or so, he is fine the rest of the day. lol! I think it's a combination of him stretching & being a grump in the morning!

Being a grump in the morning must be a pretty common thing. My Lil Alvin will wants nothing to do with me or anything (even crickets) for close to 2 hrs after his light comes on. In fact it takes an hour for him to even decide to move. I wonder if babies are a little more sleepy heads than adults? Is that true?

Puffing of the beard can mean a few diff things such as...grumpy, stretching, not happy, comething may have spooked him/her, or possibly even pain if it is constantly puffed & black.
