Proper Temps...?

I finally got a digital thermometer. It's the little yellow one made by ZooMed. With only Yoshi's basking lamp on, it reads at roughly 85*f, and if I turn the CHE on right next to the basking lamp it reads roughly 99*f. But sometimes with just the basking lamp on, he will gape like it's too hot. Should I get a higher wattage or is this ok for him even though it's not the "normal" basking temps?

it depends how old he is. Adult temps can be lower at around 95-105, younger beardies should ideally have temps up to 110.

Some beardies like higher temps, some like lower. if he's basking and gaping then i suppose thats a good sign. However 85 is too low for the basking spot- it may mean he wont digest his food well enough so id advise you to keep the CHE on as well or up the wattage of the bulb to keep temps up. if he gets too hot he'll move to the cooler end

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
