Here is the new vivarium I am building.... This is the 4x2x2 Viv that I am working on currently.

I am trying to decide on what lights to use... I am either thinking about using a MVB bulb and using that on the warm side. I know people have experience with these. Since the viv is 2 feet tall I think that will suffice. Which one do you guys have experience with and which wattage do you think would work?? I am also thinking of using the reptisun and a basking bulb. Probly a 36in reptisun and a nice flood halogen bulb. But the reptisun needs to be a lot closer than 20-24 inches so I'd have to build up the basking spot. I am not sure which way to go if you guys could give me advice as next weekend or so I will be ready to finish it and will be needing to decide on what to do about lighting/heating.. thanks

im in the process of changing all my lights to mvb megaray 100watt i really like the bulb it does everything in one and u dont have to deal with stupid tube lights ugggh i hate those things the tube lights make so much noise in the cage. i would use mvb bulb on one side and see if it is brite enough in there and if not i would use a regular house hold bulb on the other side good luck on what ever u choose

I use the MegaRay MVB in my 4x2x2. I have the bulb inside a dome sitting on top of the enclosure. I get between 100 and 112 degrees temp depending on the height of my basking spot. Had to play around with different basking items to find one with the right height. I don't use a bulb on the cool side because I get enough heat from the MVB to provide enough warmth on that side.

I havent been planning on putting the bulb on top of the viv, because I am planning on building one on top of this one for my other beardie. I am going to put a molding on the top that is bigger than the bottom of the second one so they look nice... I was planning on getting that megaray 100 watt. Do you think it would work if I mounted it inside the enclosure and just used bricks or flat rocks as a basking spot? Also, how tall is the bulb itself? I am not sure exactly if the 2 foot height will allow enough space, but I really want to use a MVB bulb. I am starting to lean that way anyways...

yea u can mount them inside the enclosure the i have 2 of the bulbs right now and there about 5 inches and then u need to add the height of ur fixture i used the chep one from homedepot the ceramic one and with that added it brought the total length to 6 1/4 inches it will work good luck cant wait to see the finished product

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
