:( The poor thing, that looks really bad. Please let us know what the vet says about it. Does he flinch and try to run away when you apply the honey to it?

O.K, hopefully they're experienced with something like this. And def. keep up with the honey, it's better than regular ointments or neosporin because it contains amino acids to regenerate tissue and is a barrier to bacteria.

He has a heat rock and a florescent uva/uvb light. I normally keep him in a 55 gallon aquarium with a mesh top, so I doubt it's a burn, especially since I keep a hide for him in the "cool" part of the enclosure especially to prevent that sort of thing. I have been keeping raw honey on it, so that should help, though if it gets worse, we will be bumping it up. He does flinch a little, so I know it's not a pleasant experience for my poor little boy, but he doesn't do much more than that.

Yeah, poor guy is a trooper....and he's still eating through all this ? BTW, hot rocks can malfunction + burn them so best to take it out. Of course it wouldn't be able to burn his back unless it flipped over on him AND malfunctioned which is not realistic.

Be sure to never leave loose crickets in the tank [ check that they're not hiding ] because they would come out at night and try to feast on his wound. Can you post a pic of his st up ?

So got vhegar looked at and the Dr said that he likely scratched himself on something and it got infected. Had me use 4 parts water to one part peroxide, followed by betadine solution, followed by raw honey, all twice daily, and it worked like a charm. A week out and he's already healing nicely.

That will take a long time to heal + will never look like it did before but thankfully it's healing. At this point , discontinue any hydrogen peroxide, it actually can destroy good tissue with bad. The raw honey is all you need , it does kill germs while actually sterilising the area + preventing bacteria from growing. All that and it also promotes tissue regeneration....so no need for anything else other than the raw honey.

Be sure there are no loose bugs in the tank that would go for her wound. Is he eating much ? He's pretty thin, but then he must be in some pain which could affect his appetite.

His appetite was down, but it's getting better. I'm giving him 5-6 super worms every other day, now that he is eating better. I'll have him fattened up in no time. :)

It's good that he's eating again. Can you get him some other insects like medium dubia roaches, large crickets and large Phoenix worms ? And try some baby food squash, sweet potato and green bean with extra water , maybe a bit of Pedialyte and /or bee pollen added. Repashy grub pie is also good. Anything soft that you can add extra hydration to....having a serious wound is dehydrating so offer water via syringe or eyedropper on his snout as well.

Fresh greens like turnip, mustard, collard, dandelion, endive and green bean are all very healthy and can be offered fresh or made in to a smoothie.

Getting even better. As of last Friday, he had gained almost 20 grams in two weeks, and his wound as of an hour ago is looking better than it did Friday. :)

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
