Problems with crickets in log

I don't know if yall have had this problem and come up with a solution for it: we have this branch in our little guys tank. We've noticed that when he gets fed crickets, the crickets will crawl in his branch and hide if he doesn't catch them right away. When we shake the stick out, about 4 crickets will fall out (theres probably more still in it). Ziggy loves this stick so when we take it out before he gets fed, he isn't happy about it. Have you guys had this problem? What can we do to the stick so they can't go in it?

I had the same problem .. I just decided to go to the dollar tree and get a food bowl for cats. Its slippery metal so the roaches dont get out after you plop them in there. Keeos it clean and he is sure to get all his food!

I took a hot glue gun and glued up all the holes in his branch so hopefully that works out.
