Problem with tail? Looks rotten and snapped

The tip of my bearded dragons tail has gone grey and it looks like a cut about an inch from the tip, I can see red on the inside... I don't know what has caused this. He seems fine otherwise but if I touch the area he wriggles away so I think hurts... I really don't know what to do with this

Hi there, sorry that he's gotten his tail cut...can you post pics ? Is he housed with another beardie ? Most tail wounds heal, but you need to be sure it doesn't get infected. Hopefully it will be fine.

Poor guy, the tip is defiantly damaged and may already be dead. It may snap off at some point. As long as the healthy part of the tail doesn't get black or infected it should be fine.

He was probably injured on the tail (bite, closed in a cage door etc) or had retained shed that cut off circulation.
