Hi everyone my bearded dragon lulu is constantly scratching at her enclosure so i have been putting her in a large laybox with sand i have even been helping make a cave but she still will not lay.. i have been doing this for 4 days now and just wondering how long this can take for them to lay. I know she close to laying as i can see her eggs in her tummy.. if anyone can help with some information it would be much appreciated ?

Hello,

Sometimes it seems like it can take forever!
Does she try to dig at all when she is in the laybox? Has she stopped eating yet? Usually
right before they lay, they will hardly eat anything at all, because of the eggs taking up
all of the room in their tummies. LOL
Have you had an x-ray yet to determine their placement?
If she is looking pear shaped then the eggs have dropped & it shouldn't be too much longer
before she lays.
Be patient, it can take some time. Has she black bearded at all?

Thank you for wrighting back..im not sure if im doing this probably i only just started out on this page..
She hasnt eaten for 4days now , she dose dig and has been for the last 4 days but still nothing..i dont think her tummy has drop into the pear shape yet so maybe she not quite ready yet.
Im just worrying because shes not eating and i wasnt sure how long it takes once they start digging.

It might be too hot + bright in there. She will probably lay any day, I'd take the heat lamp out and she may feel more comfortable. You might add more sand, too or at least pile it up higher on one side and start a tunnel for her that she can dig deep in to.

Have you made changes to the box that I mentioned They usually prefer it to be dark. Is she still active + digging ? I doubt she's eggbound since she's still digging. Once you see a very black beard + lethargy that's when they are really having trouble. It's up to you but I think she's just taking a long time to lay them, some dragons do. But get the bright light out of there. Put more sand in and/or get a large shoebox, cut one end of it off + put it on top of the sand, upside down to create a cave. That may work very quickly as she sees it as a cave. If you have a good reptile vet she may benefit from a calcium injection but I'd try the shoebox cave today to see if she'll accept that + start laying.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
