problem with bearded dragons eye??

I have the power sun UV by zoo Med and its gave my bearded dragon eye problems, he was fine till I got this new bulb now he always keeps his left eye closed and ill see him rolling his eye around,like ill see him barely open it and see the white part of the eye ball and he will roll it a few times and close his eye back up...I've turned the light off and am gonna get the reptisun 10.0 but I was wondering will his eye heal?? what can I do?? I feel so bad for him and I'm worried...thanks for anything you can suggest its greatly appreciated

How long did you have him under the powersun?
Is there any discharge from the eye?
Can you get a picture of what you are describing?

If it is from the powersun, it should heal up within a week or so. If he is an adult, I would keep all UV off until his eye has healed up completely. Just use a bright white basking light in the mean time. It is not ideal for dragons to go without UV but, in this instance, I believe it is important to give his eye time to heal up.

Ah I got the powersun March 3 or 2nd..I just turned it off today but it's only been this week he has been closing his eye and today is that it's really worse...I figured there wasnt anything wrong and didn't figure it was the light until I read about others having the problem today. There seems to be some discharge at the top just a tiny bit when he opens his eye up a little when i get him out of his tank cause he gets scared when i lift him up out of there, but when he opens it he opens it a for a split second and rolls his eye and you just see the white part of his eye which is reddish because it appears to be very sore for him and he rolls his eyeball around..then i sat him on my bed and left him there and he turned around and opened his eye without rolling it, opened it normal then hurried and closed it..heres 2 pics.

Can you tell us, please, what type of material, or substrate, you are using at the bottom of his tank?

Has he been on the newspaper since before the eye problem started? I am wondering if he got a grain of sand or something in his eye.

Yes, the previous own I got him from in December had sand in his tank, I immediate took it out and have been just using newspaper, the thing is, ive heard theres a problem with the powersun bulb causing eye problems...it didnt start till i got that new bulb so im not sure, also he tries kicking his eye, he will lift his leg and try scratching it at times...I always stop him because of his claws scratching it, im just not sure what to do :/

Thank you. I just wanted to rule out foreign matter in his eye. Like you say, a scratch or the light is likely to be causing his discomfort. So you have the Powersun off . Has anyone told you to put drops in his eyes? I have heard of people using the turtle eye drops. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than myself will drop by to advise you.

I also answered your PM too.
You can try using some turtle eye drops as suggested from the pet store or sterile saline solution for him.
Go ahead & turn the light off too leaving just a nice clear white basking light for him until you get the Reptisun 10 tube bulb.
Would you mind if I tested your light, the Powersun? I would like to see what the readings are! If so, let me know.
The eye that was closest is that the eye bothering him mostly?

Yes his other eye is completely fine from the looks of it, he opens it normal. Sure you can test it, he never started having the problems till I got that light so i believe that has to be the problem that the bulb is bad. I'm going to take him to the vet tomorrow just to see what exactly I can do and if they can prescribe anything
