so my drayce has been on oral pain meds for his wrists again and hes been on them for almost two weeks and he has about three dosages left

and his poops have been okay since he's been on them accept for yesterday his poop looked like jelly and it smelt so bad that i almost threw up.

i was told by a group on facebook that the pain meds can throw off their gut flora and to feed him some probiotics ( i think it was the kind you give to babies)

but i'm wondering how safe that is... and or if theres a reptile form of antibiotics ??

or if i should just tought it out because he only really has 3 doses left ( uncluding todays which he will get when i get home from work later)

any thoughts on it??

The probiotics can really help out while offering meds. I suggest using bene-bac gel (for birds and reptiles) or Acidophiliz+. I believe Tracie has her version available as well called Reptophilus http://www.bug-de-lite.com/Products Page.html.

Awesome around giving the oral meds how long after giving the coral meds should I give the probiotics

It looks like Tracey doesn't ship to Canada but I will look around here now that I know that names of the types that I can use

Try Amazon for the bene-bac or acidophiliz+. Be sure to get the reptile/bird version. I like to give meds in the AM and probiotic in the PM or vice versa. Acidophiliz is dosed daily and bene-bac is every third day.

i try to give the meds in the am but sometimes with work the schedule is weird. but i will order one of those tonight and give them to him.

would it be safe to give them to him for a week after hes off his pain meds ( he's got like 3 doses left so in case it takes a few days for it to arrive i want to make sure that its still safe to give it to him)

Yeah, they're quite safe. It's good to provide them for a few weeks after treatment. Think of it like eating yogurt. It's not really a medication and it isn't risky.
